The Role
Contributes to the overall success of the Global Brand & Customer Insights department across the Scotiabank Group of Companies, on Canadian and international mandates, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Develops and executes all aspects of market research for stakeholders across the Scotiabank Group of Companies, this includes:
- Working with business line stakeholders to understand purpose and research needs.
- Designing end-to-end research projects (may include developing research proposals, research plans, methodology, target, quotas, timing, etc.)
- Delivering end-to-end research projects leveraging in-house tools and resources when suitable.
- Identifying and managing vendor relationships with high-quality partners (e.g., full-service, fielding, panel, etc.)
- Leveraging project management principles to ensure research projects are on time and budget.
- Showcase and advocate for research strategy and insights through GBCI Hub, town halls, Global Marketing shares, etc.
- Direct and deliver research strategy & insights by:
- Establishing a cohesive network of relationships with vendors to ensure that insights meet business needs.
- Providing direction in the use of the most effective and innovative market research analytical techniques.
- Coordinating, analyzing, and presenting market research data, including insights from multiple sources, advising stakeholders or senior management on the best ways to action insights.
- Creating and maintaining a network of professionals to share learning.
- Provide relationship management support for various business lines across the organization by:
- Fostering trust with internal stakeholders, including key senior leaders across the organization to leverage insights to influence business strategies and decisions.
- Delivering insights in a consultative way to support stakeholders during strategy, ideation, and execution phases of their projects.

- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Completed an undergraduate university degree or college, such as commerce, mathematics, or computer science.
- Fluency in Spanish highly desirable.
- Advanced level of experience in market research (8 or more years), preferably on the vendor or client-side.
- Thorough understanding of the end-to-end process of a quantitative and qualitative market research.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to translate and communicate business requirements into technical research project specifications.
- Extensive working knowledge of multi-variant statistical techniques.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work within cross-functional teams.
- Superior organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills - ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Expert knowledge of SPSS, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint; and Qualtrics.
- Aware and knowledgeable of emerging market research techniques.
- Completed Market Research certificate program, an asset.
- Specialized qualitative training, Qualitative Research Associate designation, an asset.
