The Senior Manager, Regulatory Programs and Initiatives, is a key contributor to the success of the Regulatory Programs and Initiatives team in Global Risk Management (GRM). They will help provide oversight on GRM’s regulatory compliance activities. The senior manager will liaise with stakeholders in International Banking and therefore Spanish will be a strong asset. The Senior Manager is expected to work both individually and within a team, taking initiative and aiding as required to meet the team’s overall objectives.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of a risk-based approach to coordinate and oversee compliance with GRM Regulatory Programs and Initiatives. This will include the review of systems, processes, procedures, reports, transactions to assess whether governance, risk management and control processes are designed and operating as intended.
- The Senior Manager will need to regularly use their skills in written/oral communication, Excel, SharePoint, and Power BI. Due to engagement with our International Banking stakeholders, fluent Spanish will be a strong asset.
- Participate and lead various projects as they arise, therefore prior project management experience will be highly advantageous.
- Change management of stakeholders by reinforcing new processes and procedures through training and follow-ups.
- Create, update, and ensure the quality of Power BI and Excel reports, committee meeting presentations, SharePoint content, and other documents for compliance with policies and regulations.
- Maintain regular reporting as required; complete ad-hoc reviews and reporting requests.
- Participate in presentations and meetings with stakeholders to help gather requirements, devise solutions, and communicate plans and status updates as required.
- Assist in training sessions for GRM stakeholders as required.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant risk, audit and/or professional practice management experience in the financial services industry; Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree an asset
- Project Management and change management experience will be highly advantageous
- Strong communication skills both oral and written – professional fluency in English; fluency in Spanish will be a strong asset
- Experience working in a team environment and proven ability in providing guidance to promote good communication, objective thinking and cooperation
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills are essential to influence and collaborate effectively with others
- Expert usage of Microsoft office tools, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Power BI;
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and the financial industry in Canada and other countries where Scotiabank operates
- Thorough understanding of the Bank’s three lines of defense
