The Senior Manager, Regulatory Initiatives Group (“RIG”) will support a centralized team focused on identifying and executing delivery of a prioritized portfolio of regulatory change projects. The Senior Manager will manage and coordinate Scotiabank Global Wealth Management regulatory projects, work streams and initiatives to ensure initiatives are integrated and follow a consistent set of operating principles. They will be responsible for managing project teams and project governance, leading the development of solutions and implementation plans, and ensuring project success to achieve regulatory compliance within pre-defined budgets and timelines.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Manage the business response to regulatory change and ensure that the related changes to business policies, controls, processes, and systems are implemented on time and in a cost efficient and effective manner
- Manage regulatory change projects including presenting project updates, briefings on new regulatory changes, and impacts of changes to senior stakeholders and Scotiabank Global Wealth Management’s senior management
- Ensure that business specifications/requirements are accurately prepared, meets the needs of the client/market/product group, and provides all information required to develop and support system and operational enhancements
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with key business unit representatives to ensure that regulatory developments are considered when new business initiatives are being launched
- Understand Scotiabank Global Wealth Management’s business strategy at a consolidated and business unit level
- Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships
- Manage a complex portfolio of regulatory projects that will typically range in size of between 10 and 20 discrete initiatives
- Support compliance with any regulator requests in relation to the portfolio of projects
- Maintain and provide regulatory knowledge of relevant Canadian regulations (CIRO, OSC, OSFI)
- Ensure strong communications within the impacted business units and stakeholder groups
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- University degree and a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in financial services in either Wealth Management or Asset Management
- Experience in either the Wealth Management (including internal controls/risk management) or Asset Management regulatory and operational/business process space
- Experience in managing large regulatory projects within Asset Management or Wealth Management
- An understanding of Asset Management and Wealth Management business units, products, services, operations, systems, and practices
- Understanding of Wealth Management or Asset Management Operations and Business Processes
- Knowledge of regulations (CIRO, OSC, OSFI)
