The Senior Manager, Regulatory Initiatives Group, will play a pivotal role in analyzing regulatory developments and shaping Scotia Wealth Management’s strategic response. This role focuses on interpreting complex regulatory changes, participating in industry consultations, and contributing to proposals that influence the regulatory landscape. You will act as a key liaison between Scotia Wealth Management and regulatory bodies, ensuring the business remains proactive, informed, and compliant.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret emerging regulatory changes from CIRO, OSC, OSFI, and other relevant bodies
- Report on status of regulatory changes and projects to senior executives
- Lead impact assessments of proposed and finalized regulations on Scotia Wealth Management’s operations, products, and services
- Represent Scotia Wealth Management in regulatory consultations, working groups, and industry forums
- Develop briefing materials and position papers to support internal decision-making and external advocacy
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and business units to draft comment letters to all relevant regulators regarding regulatory proposals and consultations
- Collaborate with the Project Management Team to implement and execute regulatory changes
- Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership on regulatory implementation and views on regulatory trends and anticipated changes
- Maintain strong relationships with internal Scotiabank partners, regulators, and industry associations to stay ahead of developments and align with regulatory implementation
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:
- A relevant university degree and 5–10 years of experience in regulatory analysis, compliance, or business risk management within financial institutions
- Experience at a CIRO Dealer Member or OSC Registrant, ideally within asset management or wealth management
- Strong understanding of Canadian regulatory frameworks (CIRO, OSC, OSFI), including National Instrument 31-103 and the CIRO Consolidated Rulebook
- Experience participating in industry consultations and regulatory working groups
