Purpose
Responsible for creating and implementing the business performance and strategy disciplines in International Commercial Banking to help deliver on financial and strategic targets. The incumbent will oversee the Business Management and Planning disciplines to enable a coordinated, inter-connected budgeting, forecasting and performance assessment and insight building for the IB Commercial P&L and Client Dynamics. The incumbent will work with country business teams, Analytics, Finance, GRM, and the IB Commercial Banking team, to design and ensure execution of regional and country-level roadmaps. Create the conditions to establish financial and commercial forecasting disciplines and measure Strategic KPIs.
What You’ll Do:
- Leads the budgeting, forecasting and performance assessment process for International Commercial Banking, covering a portfolio of $18Bn in Loans, $25Bn in Deposits and $1.3Bn in Revenue across 15 countries. This is executed in coordination with IB Finance and the country Planning teams.
- Contributes creating a 360 Commercial Banking Performance Management (Financial, Client Dynamics) by Segment, including forecasts and competitive benchmark. The focus includes but is not limited to:
- Design and execute a robust executive reporting system for decision-making purposes.
- Develop financial and commercial forecasting models to support business decision making tasks.
- Monitor Commercial initiatives and action plans to understand the impact on performance.
- Periodic performance reviews and integrated root-cause analysis with the countries.
- Define business measurement framework to have a clear understanding of customer, digital solutions, and one-bank distribution performance.
- Develop and test new metrics aiming to provide new insights into business performance routine.
- Develop competitive benchmark analysis to provide additional insights to our decision-making processes
- Supports and actively participates in the IB Commercial Data project by working with the Customer Insights and Data Analytics team in the development of a business data foundation to serve both Toronto and local teams.
- Actively participates in the Annual Planning and Business Review processes with all markets we operate to align Head office strategy to local Financial and Client Dynamics targets and KPIs.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Ensures the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
What You'll Bring:
- 5+ years of experience in Financial Services.
- Demonstrated strategic influencing ability, and a high degree of collaboration with senior leadership, different countries, business lines and multiple teams.
- Strong financial and business acumen with a result-oriented and problem-solving mindset and solid ability of seeing beyond the numbers to improve business performance.
- Proven experience in performance and strategy disciplines, including but not limited to budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making reporting.
- Previous experience in Finance, Analytics or Business Performance or similar areas is desired.
- Previous experience in Strategy teams or Strategy consulting is desired.
- 3+ years’ experience in data analysis and KPI development.
- 3+ years’ experience in business storytelling and constructing executive presentations, strategic and analytical dashboards, and functional reports.
- Full proficiency in Excel (e.g. advanced formulas / charts, Analysis Toolkit, Power Query, VBA)
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics or STEM is a preference.
- MBA or Master’s Degree in relevant disciplines is valuable.
- Full professional proficiency in both English and Spanish.
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel to international locations.
