The Senior Manager, Provisions Strategic Initiatives and Control function is responsible for executing the Continuous Change Cycle across bank’s provision calculation and methodology and supports the success of a large-scale transformation program across GRM, to strengthen risk management, governance, and controls, enhance operational efficiency. Enhancement of control framework, ensure process is within IFRS 9 governance, optimizing key processes and guiding strategic initiatives that support the continuous evolution of our Provisions’ function. Responsibilities include ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance operational efficiency within Provisioning team and then designs and implements sustainable solutions by leveraging analytics, process reengineering, technology, and industry best practices.
- Communicates and coordinates between various Risk stakeholders to bridge silos and enable alignment across teams throughout all stages of development and execution.
- Supports implementation to support the modernization of credit risk management. This could include implementing new tools and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy in risk reporting.
- Tracks and manages the strategic initiatives within Risk supporting the communication of the strategy and results.
- Engages relevant groups (e.g., within GRM, Finance, HR, Executive Support), as determined by implications of the change being introduced by the initiatives.
- Maintains Policy, Risk & Control Framework, Systems, and Processes up to date and in line with industry’s best practices and technological advanced and Regulatory requirements.
- Ensure effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Post graduate or graduate education in business and/or related fields
- Ability to implement strategies, roadmaps, project plans, and business cases
- Analytical negotiation, and problem-solving skills and sound judgment
- Superior risk assessment and analytical skills
- Superior analytics and financial analysis skills
- Strong understanding of Commercial Banking processes, products and services, including a working knowledge of the systems, routines and operating procedures.
- Understanding of AML, Higher Risk Client and KYC requirements
- Good understanding of credit risk management and provisions methodologies IFRS 90
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
- Fluency in Spanish is an asset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
