Purpose
The Senior Manager, Product Strategy is a senior individual contributor within the Product Solutions team, responsible for owning and advancing key components of the product strategy roadmap for Scotia Global Asset Management’s Managed Asset Programs. Working in close partnership with the Director & Head, Product Solutions & Experience, this role plays a critical leadership role in shaping the strategic direction, evolution, and long‑term competitiveness of proprietary managed solutions across the asset management platform.
The role balances strategic development and execution, providing deep technical expertise, market and competitive insight, and cross‑functional leadership to support both new product development and the ongoing optimization of existing programs. The role requires strong strategic thinking, influencing, positioning, and presentation skills, including the ability to partner with the Director & Head to present strategic recommendations to senior and executive audiences. The scope of the role spans several distribution channels including, Canadian Branch Banking, Scotia Financial Planning, Wealth Management, and external channels, and extends across multiple brands and audiences.
Thorough knowledge of product development, distribution channel dynamics, and the regulatory framework for investment funds, strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience managing complex projects and processes is required.
What you will be doing:
Product strategy & roadmap ownership
- Own defined components of the Managed Asset Programs product strategy roadmap, aligned to enterprise, asset management, and Product Solutions priorities.
- Co‑develop product strategy in partnership with the Director & Head, Product Solutions & Experience, contributing thought leadership, analysis, and recommendations that inform strategic decisions.
- Translate strategy into actionable roadmaps, business cases, and execution plans, supporting delivery in collaboration with Product Development and other partners.
- Identify opportunities to evolve, enhance, simplify, or rationalize managed solutions to improve competitiveness, scalability, and client outcomes.
- Develop high‑quality strategic materials, including presentations and executive briefings.
- Clearly articulate complex product, investment, and market concepts to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strong positioning, storytelling, and persuasion skills to build confidence and alignment around strategic recommendations.
Product development & lifecycle management
- Support a mix of new product development and existing product lifecycle strategy, working closely with Product Development teams from ideation through launch and post‑launch optimization.
- Contribute to the development of product concepts, positioning, value propositions, thought leadership, and commentaries for Managed Asset Programs and the Multi-Asset Management team.
- Ensure product strategies consider portfolio construction, investment approach, structure, fees, operational readiness, and client experience implications.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure product changes are effectively planned, sequenced, and implemented.
- Apply sound judgment and due diligence in all strategic recommendations.
Market & Competitive Intelligence
- Lead and contribute to competitive analysis and market intelligence for Managed Asset Programs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Conduct self‑directed research while also partnering closely with the Competitive Intelligence team to synthesize insights into actionable strategy.
- Monitor industry developments, investment trends, and competitor offerings to inform product strategy and roadmap priorities.
- Translate complex market and competitive insights into clear, executive‑ready recommendations.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- University degree; MBA or advanced business education considered an asset.
- CIM and/or CFA Designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in asset management, product strategy, product management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience working with managed solutions, portfolio construction, or asset allocation programs.
- Ability to influence a broad array of internal and external relationships
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations.
- Deep technical investment knowledge combined with strong “soft skills” for strategy development and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Proven ability to influence, partner, and drive outcomes without direct authority.
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level storytelling.
- Highly collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment.
- Strong business acumen and a high degree of initiative and ownership.
