This role leads and oversees product strategy & development for Business Banking lending solutions in Canada by ensuring strategic plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Senior Manager, Product Strategy & Development will manage the design, development and execution of product strategies for Small Business non-card lending products. This includes Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility in order to drive revenue, manage expenses, and monitor product performance and direct decisions to ensure P&L targets are met or exceeded. The incumbent will assist with the end-to-end new product design process and will design competitive analyses frameworks to ensure constant monitoring of the competitive environment, in order to determine actions required due to marketplace innovations. The incumbent will play a key role in the design of go-to market strategies for new and refined Small Business lending products.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Own product P&L by actively managing product pricing and identifying expense reduction opportunities
- Lead in the development and design of new products and/or enhancements to the existing Small Business product shelf
- Conduct industry competitive analyses to identify gaps and make recommendations to Senior Management on initiatives to implement, in order to improve the profitability of the existing portfolio
- Identify and drive strategic initiatives and projects in order to improve, streamline and enhance the Business portfolio by analyzing key financial metrics and drivers, and through the ongoing management of the P&L to ultimately direct decisions and ensure goals are met and exceeded
- Develop product-related business cases to support recommendations that are aligned with the Business Banking strategic plan
- Oversee exception pricing to support the sales team within SLA and ensure profitable portfolio growth.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/herrespective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Undergraduate business degree or MBA preferred
- 7+ years experience in product-related roles
- Creative approach to product development and differentiation; ability to monitor wider market/commercial trends and tailor new products accordingly
- Awareness of key environmental factors in the Small Business industry, including government and regulatory issues
- Superior Excel skills
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills
- Solid understanding of business operations and risk issues for SBB products
- Strong business and marketing acumen
- Proven ability to influence and coordinate sometimes conflicting stakeholders
