Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Product Services Group, Global Portfolio Solutions, Global Investment Solutions, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. 

Contribute to the governance, oversight and continuous enhancement of product risk framework and product shelf across Global Wealth Management. Assist in ensuring consistency, regulatory alignment and client-focused outcomes at scale.

 


Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Champions a client-driven culture and partners across Scotiabank’s global footprint to leverage resources to deepen Client engagement.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of the Global Risk Framework through effective collaboration across Global Wealth Management (GWM) and International Wealth Management (IWM), promoting alignment of best practices across distribution channels and geographies
  • Accountable for governance and oversight of risk rating methodologies, ensuring adherence to established frameworks, controls, and regulatory standards.
  • Proactively monitor risk rating consistency and data integrity, identifying issues and driving continuous improvement of the risk rating framework and governance practices.
  • Supports product shelf governance and oversight, ensuring alignment with firm product due diligence policies and regulatory requirements.  Identify regulatory and product developments and assess the implications for various stakeholders.
  • Lead delivery of complex assignments and projects, exercise judgement and identify solutions to provide recommendations to business partners and senior management.
  • Lead and support key Product Services Group functions, including analysis and review of third-party structured products for approval by the Structured Products Committee, management of security database for fee-based accounts, validation reviews of weekly/monthly reports and functions to ensure adherence to Audit and Compliance standards and review of firm due diligence requests, distribution agreements and regulatory documentation
  • Understand how Scotiabank’s risk appetite and risk culture are implemented in day-to-day activities and monitor the product shelf with a focus on product risk to anticipate any areas of concern
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum 10 years of finance-related experience
  • Post-secondary degree required (Commerce or Business Administration degree preferred)
  • Experience with Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, MS Office and VBA programming language
  • Strong skills in analytics; written and verbal communication; relationship building; self-management; and attention to detail
  • Professional integrity
  • Exceptional time-management
