 Senior Manager, Product Services Group & Investment Funds, Global Portfolio Advisory Group Scotia Wealth Management



Contributes to the overall success of the Product Services Group & Investment Funds, Global Portfolio Advisory Group (GPAG) / Scotia Wealth Management in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.




  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.


  • Management of the Canadian Wealth Management (CWM) product shelf
    • Lead delivery of complex assignments and projects where direct precedents do not readily apply.  Exercise judgement and identify solutions to provide recommendations to manager, business partners and senior management.
    • Conduct ongoing firm product due diligence and process reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
    • Identify regulatory and product developments and assess the implications for various stakeholders. Lead and manage the design and implementation of policies and processes to mitigate regulatory and investment risks for CWM, investment advisors and end-client.
    • Understand how Scotiabank’s risk appetite and risk culture are implemented in day-to-day activities and monitor the product shelf with a focus on product risk to anticipate any areas of concern
    • Has accountability for the management of the offshore fund product shelf including product support, annual due diligence, and review of distribution agreements and regulatory documentation.
    • Lead the creation and delivery of asset class educational and training content for investment advisors to help advisors meet regulatory standards
    • Identify areas of opportunity e.g.: operations, systems, processes, communications, leveraging the Bank’s existing resources to increase efficiency.  Engage and support synergies amongst various business lines.
    • Drive thematic analysis and root cause problem solving on issues identified through operational risk events, self-assessments, scenario analysis and other reviews/testing including those performed by Audit, Compliance and Regulators to determine significant risks and ensure sound risk mitigation
    • May have formal management accountability


  • Oversight for Key Product Services Group functions
    • Accountable for validation and verification reviews of weekly/monthly reports and functions to ensure adherence to Audit and Compliance standards.
    • Partner with other relevant functional areas ie. Operations, Compliance & Legal, Marketing, Fee Based Group, Asset Management to ensure product updates are communicated


  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.




  • Requires interaction with a broad range of stakeholders including investment advisory teams, Sales Management, Compliance, National Supervision team, Operations and senior management



Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)


  • Minimum 10 years of finance-related experience
  • Post-secondary degree required (Commerce or Business Administration degree preferred)
  • Strong skills in analytics; written and verbal communication; relationship building; self-management; and attention to detail
  • Professional integrity
