Purpose
The Senior Manager, Portfolio Optimization contributes to increase the performance and profitability of the issuing portfolio (credit & debit) and the overall success of the Issuing & Payment Networks Area within Retail Payments Department in International Banking ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You’ll Do:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Leads the definition and implementation of strategies focused on increasing the payments portfolio performance and profitability, including but not limited to, MCC profitability, product suitability, cost reduction, etc.
- Liaisons with IB Fraud, IB Operations, Networks and the countries for the definition and implementation of strategies, tools and rules to improve IB Retail Payments authorization rates to maximize payment volumes while keeping the bank safe.
- Works closely with the Payment Networks team to minimize the networks penalties (i.e. Visa’s minimal approval rate mandate)
- Provides guidance and oversight to the Manager, Portfolio optimization on the development and maintenance of payments related dashboards and reports from networks & IB data, consolidating extraction of data from multiple sources. The Sr. Manager Portfolio optimization provides insights and recommendations to the entire IB Retail Payments team.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You'll Bring:
- At least 5 years of working experience in payments (credit and debit cards) with strong understanding of products, benefits, pricing, P/L drivers and the payments ecosystem.
- Demonstrated multitasking abilities in a team-based environment.
- Excellent analytical, presentation, writing and negotiation skills.
- Business Intelligence experience with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint),
- Knowledge of Power BI and capacity to manage simple databases in SQL
- and the ability to work independently to accomplish tasks are essential
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is an essential asset
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel to international locations.
