Under the leadership of the Director, Business Delivery, and in full collaboration with International Wealth Management leadership, both in country and at head office, the incumbent is primarily responsible for:

Providing advice & counsel and supporting the identification and implementation of strategies and solutions to address the needs of international wealth business units (brokerage, private banking, asset management & pensions and trust).


Facilitating the sharing of best practices and leveraging of resources across all divisions of Scotiabank.


As a driver of operational change, the role proactively identifies, develops and implements efficiencies, consistency and process continuous improvements through all channels within IWM.
This involves understanding the IWM businesses sufficiently to be able to articulate their needs to our business partners located in Canada and Internationally for both new initiatives and ongoing support.

Key Accountabilities


  • The Sr. Manager is accountable for maintaining the integrity of the supporting infrastructure and client experience, including supporting the rollout/implementation of new service offerings and other major initiatives. The Sr. Manager will play a key role in enhancing and optimizing the operational procedures, process and workflow to achieve operational excellence, sustainable growth and a superior client experience.
  • Influence the day to day change management activities and provide appropriate level of support to the business units in country.
  • Seek opportunities for growth and cost reduction by exploring operational efficiencies, standardization in the business and working with multiple support areas to carry out business strategy. Support changes to operational systems and procedures that may impact the client interaction and experience.
  • Develop and grow positive collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders across the organization (International Banking, Canadian Wealth, Commercial Banking, etc.) to drive initiatives to support  efficient and cost-effective operations
  • Work with internal business partners to manage external vendors as required to ensure cost effective delivery and to ensure service levels are met.
  • Assist in the design, development and implementation of best practices within the Executive Office (Canadian Wealth and International Banking) to leverage potential synergies that may be applied to the international wealth business activities.
  • Support the management of risk management and Bank policies to ensure adherence with regulatory bodies, including the IDA and IIROC in Canada, the regulators in all countries where IWM operates, as well as all privacy legislation in Canada and abroad especially with the introduction of new products and systems.
  • The incumbent will work closely with all areas associated with IWM to ensure Risk Management strategies and IWM business line strategies support each other effectively.  Major areas involved: product development and management, sales and service practices and management, operations management, risk and asset management.
  • Provides technical expertise to business units in country and in head office and where appropriate, facilitate training and workshops.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day to day activities and decisions.


Education and Other Requirements


  • Post Secondary Education in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 5 Years of experience in Wealth Management industry
  • Successful completion of CSC, WME or CFA would be an asset
  • Well developed tactical planning and implementation skills.
  • Excellent understanding of the IWM model with focus on investing,brokerage, asset management, pensions, trust products and services and client experience models in high-end offerings.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Canadian brokerage, investment, asset management, trust management industry with a focus on supporting processes.
  • Broad knowledge of the capital markets in countries where IWM operates. 
  • Highly motivated, innovative and results-oriented individual with excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation/influencing skills in order to build consensus and obtain cooperation.
  • Project Management skills and experience.
  • Ability to think and respond quickly, able to adapt to change readily.
  • Strong Relationship Building skills to gain support from relevant business partners.
  • Fluent in Spanish.
