The Role

The incumbent has responsibility for the technical design, development, and optimization of GBM finance MIS applications and continuing support related thereto. These applications provide necessary financial and management information to assist and support users in managing their businesses and in performing reporting, financial planning, and analytics functions.

Until such time as the following is completed, the incumbent will be primarily accountable for working collaboratively with GBM and other stakeholders to accomplish the following.

 

GBM and GTB Essbase Cubes

  • Develop and maintain scripts and SAS programs to extract data from OBI and Hyperion, transform and load to the cubes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, operation efficiencies and new data and/or function development.
  • Create documentation for reporting and data processing workflows to support audit requirements, data validation, and business logic compliance.
  • Provide training and coaching to GBM & GTB Essbase cube users.

Automation & Process Optimization

  • Lead process automation to improve efficiency in financial reporting, forecasting and planning.
  • Utilize Power BI and other automation tools to create reports and dashboards.

Reporting

  • Design new reporting tools to enhance current monthly/quarterly reporting processes.
  • Design tools for regional finance groups which are region specific such as legal entity reporting and regional business line reporting inclusive of GBM and non-GBM units.
  • Oversight in all GBM Finance reporting tools and ensures consistency and optimization of data.

 

Other Projects

  • Lead and participate in all aspects of a system development life cycle, including investigation, requirements documentation, design, development, test, QAT, implementation, deployment and support. 
  • Develop and co-ordinate testing and data validation procedures for each of the above.

 

Data Management & Analysis

  • Demonstrate strategic thinking, with the ability to align data analytics with business objectives and drive decision making.
  • Establish standards, controls and processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency and integration.
  • Design and implement data validation, reconciliation and improvement practices to support department priorities.

 

Coaching and people management

  • Lead a team of 2 direct reports, building a high performance and inclusive environment and culture.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • University degree in accounting, finance, business, mathematics or computer science.
  • Understanding of the data and sources populating the MIS (e.g. EGL, COFA, OBI, Hyperion , etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Essbase Administration Services Console and MaxL scripts.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with programming languages (SAS, SQL, Python, VBA). SAS is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, Power Query and DAX.
  • Experience with database and report development and understanding of user reporting needs.
  • Results oriented, detail oriented, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to apply this knowledge to the resolution of complex business issues related to the MIS.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and written skills including documentation of processes, procedures and training guides.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GBM business lines, performance measurement systems, accounting systems and an explicit knowledge of reporting relationships within GBM.
  • Proven capability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
