Purpose
As the Senior Manager, Liquidity Management, you will contribute to the growth of Global Transaction Banking (GTB) non-personal deposit portfolio for Global Banking & Markets (GBM), Canadian Banking (CB), and International Banking (IB). You will be responsible for monitoring liquidity risk, client cashflows and portfolio management analysis, and regulatory impacts to ensure GTB has visibility into its deposit portfolio activity and results.
- Understand and simplify liquidity regulations and market events that may impact our business deposit strategies, objectives, and performance.
- Change management on select deposit risk and regulatory initiatives required to maintain and grow our business.
- Create transparent reporting for deposit sales pipelines and material client cashflow tracking.
The Business Deposit Portfolio Management team within GTB is primarily responsible for managing deposit strategy, deal structuring, pricing, volume, product mix, segment mix, activity, client concentration, liquidity risk and reporting for the deposit portfolio across the GBM, Commercial, Business Banking, IB non-personal deposits, and Private Banking segments, on a standard and non-standard (client specific) basis.
- Products include Business Accounts, GICs/Term Deposits and suite of customized solutions.
- Primary deposit currencies CAD & USD (other currencies on occasion).
- Team works closely with the Sales, Business Lines and Group Treasury, Risk/Compliance and Operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Analyze applicable regulatory rules, requirements and assess external environment in terms of liquidity trends to optimize impacts and provide recommendations for changes in business focus.
- Responsible for applicable regulatory projects/initiatives related to GTB’s funding, liquidity measurement or deposit risk/pricing changes and supporting Portfolio Management with various stress testing scenarios with partners.
- Tracking client cashflows, managing deposit sales pipeline with the sales team for deposit forecasting inputs for GBM and large deals for CB as required.
- Assess/monitor deposit portfolio diversification risk (e.g., client, product, industry, geography), track relevant deposit portfolio metrics and support client industry segmentation classification as it relates to regulatory requirements.
- Analyze internal reporting to identify material changes in client specific deposit activity and determine if adjustments to product structures/pricing (in conjunction with the Pricing Desk).
- Contribute to the production of management reports/dashboards that include deposit portfolio results, activity, and trends.
- Analyze the portfolio construction to identify opportunities and risks for optimization of the GTB client primacy strategy across segments, products, and geography.
- Support select deposit audit/compliance/sales activities and document existing/new Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) methodologies with a business governance and client focus in conjunction with Balance Sheet and Margin Management and Portfolio Management teams.
- Establish a strategic network that can benefit the deposit objectives of GTB and the Business Lines, proactively building partnerships with key stakeholders: e.g., Group Treasury, Global Cash Management, Business Lines, Sales, Product, Technology, Risk/Compliance, and Operations.
What You'll Bring:
- Post-Secondary Education completed in business or related area (MBA or other applicable professional designation preferred).
- Solid understanding of the Bank’s business deposit product capabilities.
- Self-starter who likes to work with multiple stakeholders as well as independently.
- Understanding of money markets, interest rates and economic drivers in Canada, the U.S., and globally.
- Understanding of regulatory environment including Basel and OSFI liquidity metrics and ratios is an asset.
- Curiosity about the Bank’s deposit strategy and future of banking regulations.
- Flexibility to adapt and manage within a dynamic business environment.
- Detail-oriented while having the big-picture vision.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
- Experienced user of Microsoft products including Power BI, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Prior experience with Salesforce, OBI and SQL preferred.
