The Senior Manager, Issues Management, plays a key role in providing first-line oversight into the Strategy and Operations business units on all issues. The Senior Manager, Issues Management, contributes to the overall success of the Business Management and Planning team by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of Strategy and Operations strategic objectives. The Senior Manager, Issues Management, ensures all activities conducted are compliant with the governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Manage all Audit issues and issues identified through the Non-Financial Risk activities such as First and Second Line Testing, RCSAs, Scenario Analysis, New Initiative Risk Assessments as well as SOX Control Weakness and Management Self-Identified issues for all business units.
- Guide/support the units prepare for upcoming audits and reviews.
- Support with the documentation of and/or review of Management Action Plans, ensuring the plan(s) addresses/resolves the identified gaps/root causes and that the resolution is effective and sustainable.
- Obtain, review and challenge completed issue closure packages prepared by the business unit/issue owner:
- Ensuring proper implementation of remediation activities and agreed upon management action plans have resolved the problem and addressed the underlying root cause of the issue,
- The resolution is effective and sustainable and aligns with the examiner’s recommendations and specific actions required for closure of the issue; and
- All specific evidence required for closure has been provided.
- Obtain, review and challenge completed quarterly updates prepared by the business unit/issue owner:
- Ensuring that resolution of the issue is still on track to meet the original resolution date,
- The remediation being implemented resolves the problem and addresses the underlying root cause of the issue; and
- All applicable evidence has been provided
- Escalate any issues that will not be resolved by the original resolution date.
- Monitor the status of open remediation plans to support timely closure, reporting status regularly to senior management on remediation plan effectiveness and timeliness
- Provide reports/dashboards with insights that drives action to senior management and Risk Committee.
- Liaise with key partners such Audit, Compliance, Global Operational Risk, AML and SOX Office.
- Lead projects as required to help identify management and compliance needs, communicating findings, implementation of action plans or corrective actions.
- Lead a client focused culture to deepen client and stakeholder relationships.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and industry developments.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Undergraduate Degree or higher with 5 years relevant work experience in compliance, operational risk management, third party risk management, internal audit or other relevant areas.
- Proactive and strong problem solving, critical thinking, negotiating, and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with various levels of internal and external parties).
- Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Sound knowledge of bank's regulations, policies, procedures, operations, and functions.
- Maintains current awareness of the regulatory requirements and industry best practices across operational and regulatory risks.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
- Expert knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio. Expert knowledge of Power BI is an asset.
