The Senior Manager will serve as a strategic leader who shapes the vision, direction, and quality of employee‑focused design across the HR Talent Strategy portfolio. They will guide teams in understanding employee needs, champion human‑centred and inclusive design approaches, and ensure that insights meaningfully influence decisions and future roadmaps. By building strong partnerships across HR and the business, they will drive alignment, elevate design capabilities, and create clear, compelling artifacts that bring employee journeys and solutions to life. This leader will coach others, foster a culture of continuous learning and curiosity, and proactively anticipate organizational challenges and opportunities to help the team deliver thoughtful, high‑impact experiences for employees worldwide.

  • You will participate and influence the design decisions for HR Talent Strategy employee experiences for our employees across our global footprint.
  • You will understand our employees motivations and needs, encouraging teams to leverage rigorous design research and usability principles. 
  • You will consider employee interactions and journeys and act as an advocate for their constant improvement identifying and encouraging the utilization of inclusive design principles and implementation. 
  • You will practice empathy and the ability to actively listen and consider other people’s points of view.  
  • You will be a driver of the strategy, vision, and design of Scotiabank’s world class digital experiences across journeys.  
  • You will anticipate problems, challenges, and opportunities to formulate comprehensive responses to difficult questions, driving decision making regarding change and growth. 
  • You will leverage existing communication channels with key stakeholders across the Bank to inform, build relationships, inspire confidence, facilitate dialogue and influence decisions. 
  • You will champion the execution of the HR Talent Strategy’s leadership and view development of self and others as a business priority. 
  • You will guide and coach a team of HR and business line leaders key partners across Global HR and the business to envision and build products that make our employees experiences useful, engaging, and effective while supporting our business goals. 
  • You will demonstrate your leadership skills by supporting and communicating with your team, partners, and executives frequently and efficiently. 
  • You will produce compelling visual deliverables to illustrate desired employee journeys and provide detailed specifications to ensure that your team always maintain quality standards. 
  • You will be an enabler within our design community by encouraging teams to exchange feedback, ideas, and best practices with frequency.  
  • You will collaborate with the Director, HR Strategic Solutions and guide teams in understanding long term roadmap and key wins to help guide prioritization through performance reviews, 1-on-1 meetings, and performance and development discussions. 
  • Lead and coach designers and other stakeholders as needed to align on delivery objectives and continuously improve design capabilities. 
  • You will champion a culture of design thinking and build capacity for human-centred design across the organization.
  • You will ensure that feedback about design engagements is obtained proactively to improve future design engagements and decisions.  

 

 Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have: 

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in DesignBehavioural Science, Systems engineering or related fields (or equivalent work experience). 
  • 8+ years of professional experience designing responsive web and/or native mobile software applications, at least 2 of them coaching high-performance design teams in fast-paced organizations.  
  • Ability to communicate concepts, ideas and strategies using rapid visual design techniques.  
  • Ability to work within the constraints of a Design System with flexibility, and a desire to push existing standards to the next level by contributing back to our Design System library.  
  • A positive and resilient personality with a growth mentality. You must be able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous improvement.  
  • A demonstrable history of applying design thinking tenets and user centered design principles to design problems.  
  • A portfolio of work (professional and/or personal) which presents the story of projects you have worked on, your role, and examples of your problem-solving methods from low-fidelity sketches to detailed designs.  
  • We are looking for a fast learner who has an appetite to uncover what’s behind both, simple and complex financial solutions. 
  • Experience in the use of digital design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch and/or Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Axure, Proto.io, etc. 
  • Expert understanding of Human-centred Design practices, including Design thinking methodologies, research, and user testing protocols, as well as Agile frameworks.  
  • Ability to plot and map end-to-end user journey for employees within an organization.  
  • A natural storyteller with the ability to craft and communicate compelling stories that add clarity and inspire passion in our mission. A strong facilitator, with a robust tool kit of techniques to communicate and collect ideas.  
  • performer who leverages diversity across disciplines/locations/levels to fuel creativity and innovation in product design.  
  • A performer that exercises flexibility and openness, with the courage to defend unpopular points of view when they add value for the customer or the business.
