Purpose
The Senior Event Manager contributes to the overall success of the Global Events team by leading the strategic planning and end-to-end delivery of complex, high-profile events that advance the Bank’s business objectives. Under the direction of the Director, Global Event Management, the incumbent serves as a trusted advisor to Business Lines and Corporate Functions, translating objectives into integrated event strategies, project plans, budgets, governance, and measurable outcomes. The role leads cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver programs on time, on budget, and in accordance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
These events are highly visible and involve clients, business partners, and senior executives. The individual must demonstrate strong program leadership, sound judgment, financial acumen, stakeholder management, and operational discipline. Success requires the ability to manage multiple workstreams, anticipate and mitigate risk, direct vendors and event teams, resolve issues under pressure, and represent the organization with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity. The role also champions innovation, continuous improvement, and attendee-centred experiences while operating within the Bank’s regulatory and risk framework.
Accountabilities
● Lead event strategy and end-to-end program delivery:
o Translate business objectives into clear event strategies, success measures, project plans, timelines, governance, and delivery requirements.
o Lead the full event lifecycle from intake and scoping through planning, production, on-site execution, financial reconciliation, and post-event evaluation.
o Direct multiple concurrent workstreams, dependencies, and decision points to ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope, and to a consistently high standard.
o Develop integrated event plans covering agenda, attendee journey, venue, production, technology, registration, communications, hospitality, security, accessibility, and contingency planning.
o Establish and track objectives, key performance indicators, attendee feedback, and post-event insights to demonstrate impact and improve future programs.
o Champion innovation and sustainable event practices where they improve business outcomes, attendee experience, operational efficiency, or value.
● Advise senior stakeholders and align event outcomes to business priorities:
o Serve as the primary Global Events contact for senior internal clients, building trusted relationships and maintaining alignment on objectives, audience, scope, budget, risks, and expected outcomes.
o Lead stakeholder briefings, recommendations, decision meetings, and status updates, presenting clear options, trade-offs, and rationale.
o Provide strategic counsel on event format, agenda, content, guest experience, venue, production, and delivery approach based on business need.
o Manage expectations and scope changes, clearly communicating budget, timing, resource, and risk implications.
o Identify emerging issues and decisions early, escalate appropriately, and lead collaborative resolution with clients, partners, and vendors.
o Prepare executive-ready event briefs, approvals, run-of-show materials, and post-event reports.
● Lead event teams, financial management, vendors, and operational risk:
o Lead event delivery teams of three or more, assigning accountabilities, setting priorities, coaching team members, and ensuring coordinated execution across all workstreams.
o Manage a portfolio of simultaneous events, balancing capacity, complexity, deadlines, stakeholder needs, and enterprise priorities.
o Build, manage, forecast, and reconcile complex event budgets; monitor commitments and actuals; obtain approvals; and recommend trade-offs that protect value and outcomes.
o Lead venue and vendor sourcing, selection, negotiation, onboarding, performance management, and issue resolution in partnership with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and risk partners.
o Review complex contracts and ensure third-party risk management, procurement, expense policy, security, accessibility, health and safety, and regulatory requirements are addressed.
o Develop contingency and escalation plans and oversee on-site operations, including production, registration, hospitality, transportation, staffing, security, and executive or VIP requirements.
o Conduct post-event debriefs, assess vendor and program performance, document lessons learned, and implement improvements across future events.

Uses a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Dimensions
• Manages complex event programs with budgets in ($mm).
• May lead, manage, support, or contribute to six or more events at any given time, depending on program scope, complexity, and seasonality.
• Accountable for alignment with third-party risk management, procurement, expense policy, enterprise risk, security, accessibility, and compliance requirements.
• Works with Business Lines and Corporate Functions to make and recommend decisions regarding event strategy, budget, agenda, location, format, and attendee experience.
• Leads cross-functional project teams and external suppliers and may directly manage three or more Event Managers and Assistant Event Managers.
• Performance is assessed against business results, attendee and stakeholder outcomes, financial stewardship, risk management, operational excellence, and leadership competencies.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have the following:
• Degree or diploma in event management, hospitality, business, marketing, communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum seven years of progressive experience leading complex corporate, executive, client, conference, recognition, or incentive event programs; financial services experience is an asset.
• Minimum three years leading cross-functional program teams and managing multiple concurrent events from strategy through post-event evaluation.
• Demonstrated experience managing multimillion-dollar budgets, financial forecasts, reconciliations, and complex vendor contracts.
• Proven ability to advise senior executives, influence decisions, manage competing priorities, and communicate recommendations, risks, and trade-offs with clarity.
• Strong project and program management capability, including scope, schedule, dependencies, governance, issue resolution, and contingency planning.
• Deep knowledge of event operations across in-person, virtual, hybrid, broadcast, conference, and incentive travel environments.
• Experience sourcing, negotiating with, and managing venues, agencies, production companies, technology partners, caterers, transportation providers, and other suppliers.
• Sound understanding of third-party risk, procurement, contract, security, accessibility, health and safety, and compliance requirements.
• Strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and disciplined follow-through.
• Excellent judgment, executive presence, emotional intelligence, written and verbal communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to lead calmly under pressure, adapt to changing requirements, and resolve complex operational issues in real time.
• Experience establishing event objectives, measuring results, analyzing attendee feedback, and applying insights to continuous improvement.
• Commitment to inclusive, accessible, sustainable, and attendee-centred event practices.
• Industry certification or association involvement, such as CMP or CSEP, is an asset.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends and to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Working Conditions
• Work is in an unassigned, highly mobile environment.
• Moderate to extensive travel domestically/internationally/globally depending on assignments.
• The internal partners that the event team services are very demanding, resulting in a high-pressure environment that is fast-paced and has tight deadlines. As well there are many last-minute requests, resulting in modifications to events that in turn require escalation to the Director.
• Significant evening and weekend work may be required.
• A valid passport is required.
• A valid driver’s license is essential.
• This is an overtime-exempt position.
