Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the Global Testing Centre of Excellence (GTCE) Oversight for Global Compliance globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Supports the Director, GTCE in overseeing Global Compliance Testing (the “Testing”) program and its alignment with Global Compliance Risk Management framework. The role ensures that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Accountabilities
|
- Prepares requirements and agenda for the Global Compliance Testing Advisory Council with Testing Heads, and other control functions to share and discuss testing results.
- Perform a challenge role on Compliance Test multi-year Plans globally proposed by each Business Line (BL)/ Corporate Functions (CF), ensuring there is adequate compliance risk coverage, sufficient resources to provide assurance on Compliance testing obligations, while making sure the annual plan is completed on time and in alignment with the bank’s expectations.
- Provide oversight and challenge on the day-to-day execution of Compliance plans, reviewing and approving any changes to the Test plan. Ensure appropriate escalation is in place and that remediation plans are developed for deferred or cancelled engagements
- Provide ongoing advice, guidance, to BL / CF compliance teams on the comprehensiveness of the BL/CF Compliance test plan.
- Drive collaboration with the pillars to streamline and standardize compliance workflows, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and operational best practices.
- Display strong understanding of Compliance Testing program and alignment to the Compliance Risk Management framework
- Analyzes testing patterns, themes, systemic findings and/or trending issues at the global and BL / CF level and ensures they are tagged for discussion at the Testing Council, and for CCO and respective senior committees.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships and create a shared vision of excellence. Play a leadership role and effectively communicate deliverables to stakeholders; ensure deliverables are on-time and of high quality.
- Proactively drives process improvements to boost efficiency and effectiveness within their area of responsibility, ensuring strong business controls are maintained and followed. This includes identifying opportunities for improvement and coordinating their successful implementation.
- Champions a high-performance environment, contributes to an inclusive work environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Champion the continuous review and alignment of procedures, guidance, and documentation with oversight roles and business operations to support organizational goals.
- Implements and oversees dashboards to oversight compliance activities, collaborating with Technology teams to ensure timely delivery and accurate reporting.
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, or relevant Social Science (e.g., Economics)
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant compliance or risk management experience in a large, international bank and/or an established securities regulatory agency. Preferably in Testing / Audit / Risk management
- International business mindset
- Strong strategic, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Team player and ability to work in a complex global matrix organization
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to develop and implement solutions to complex issues.
- Strong time and project management, research, and analytical skillsets.
- Ability to learn and adapt to rapidly changing regulator
- Spanish is an asset
