The Senior Manager assists the Director with activities related to the implementation, management and communication of the Enterprise Risk Appetite Framework (ERAF) and Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework (EWRMF) to business lines, control & support functions and material subsidiaries, including providing oversight over lower-level risk appetite frameworks across the Bank’s global operations. The Senior Manager ensures that all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, industry best practices, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

• Ensure consistency with governing regulations, internal requirements and industry best practices when fulfilling the following accountabilities:

• Development, approval, and dissemination of the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework, including providing Advice & Council to subsidiaries

• Development, approval, and monitoring of the Enterprise Risk Appetite Framework and corresponding metrics, including exercising oversight and challenge to risk metrics and statements

• Responsible for the annual update of the Risk Appetite e-Learning course which serves as a foundational course for the Global Mandatory Learning Program.

• Coordinate Risk Management updates into the Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) of the Bank’s Annual Report.

• Assist with preparation of the annual CRO submission to the Human Capital and Compensation Committee of the Board on the appropriateness of incentive plan payouts in relation to risk-related considerations.

• Develop responses and plans to remediate issues raised by Internal Audit and/or regulatory examinations and supports the annual review of regulatory and Bank-driven initiatives (e.g. SOX, CRCA, GRM Self-Assessment, etc).

• Maintain ongoing awareness of industry best practices and regulatory requirements with respect to risk appetite and communicate findings with recommendations to management. Assist in the department’s role of change agent, implementing enhancements to ensure the Bank meets and/or exceeds best practices and regulatory requirements.

• Assist with cascading and embedding risk appetite concepts throughout the Bank to support a strong risk culture and ensure that roles and responsibilities for development and implementation of the risk appetite framework are well defined and communicated.

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct.

•An undergraduate degree required

• Professional accounting designation (CPA), CFA, or MBA would be an asset

• Strong understanding of risk frameworks, risk management, the Bank’s operations and financial sector risks

• Superior communication skills with ability to write clearly and concisely

• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills

• Results oriented and driven individual

• Expert interpersonal and relationship building skills to influence and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders across the Bank.

• Ability to work on complex projects independently, within tight deadlines, and adapt to changing deadlines and requirements.

• Excellent organizational skills are required to manage multiple and concurrent projects under tight deadlines.

• Fluency in Spanish would be an asset.
