The Team and Role : 

The Senior Manager, Enterprise Productivity (Information Technology & Solutions) is a key leader within the Lean & Smart Automation team, a high performing team with the mandate to diagnose, design and implement process optimization, operating model transformation and organizational redesign across Scotiabank.  The incumbent will oversee and be responsible for driving multiple productivity initiatives across the Bank’s IT and related functions.  The incumbent is expected to bring a significant level of knowledge in order to identify, evaluate and recommend productivity improvements.  The primary areas of focus are increased efficiencies, reduced costs, maximized revenues and ongoing risk mitigation while ensuring that enhancing the customer and business partner experience are at the centre of all decisions. The role spans activities from coaching individuals within the support areas, coaching and leading a team of analysts during the productivity rollout, organizing and conducting opportunity review sessions, driving critical diagnostics, developing future state design and potential benefits, to leading 2-3 concurrent initiatives at any given time.  The incumbent will also be expected to present recommendations/solutions/project status to Executive Leadership.   

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Lead an in-house consulting team, responsible for developing productivity solutions in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic environment 
  • Approach initiatives logically with a problem-solving, data-driven and results oriented mindset 
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge 
  • Partner with Country CIO and/or Global Engineering teams to identify productivity opportunities such as efficient processes, organizational effectiveness, management systems, mindsets and behaviors, skills and capabilities and client focus by applying analytical approaches and tools including, but not limited to: 
  • Time and Motion Analysis 
  • Demand, Flow and Capacity Analysis 
  • Key Performance Indicators 
  • Customer Demand Analysis (Voice of the Customer) 
  • Detailed Problem Solving 
  • Waste and Non Value Add Analysis 
  • Conduct analysis, mapping and re-engineering of business processes 
  • Develop hypotheses, synthesize findings, and communicate opportunities for improvement 
  • Develop strategies and recommendations, including business benefits and costs, implementation and training strategies/plan 
  • Design and prepare deliverables to communicate findings, solutions and results to senior executives 
  • Build impactful presentation slides and decks leveraging enterprise templates 
  • Work with internal partners to develop a pipeline of new projects 
  • Manage multiple complex client relationships to effectively deliver value and present findings results to Executive Leadership 
  • Lead all aspects of the diagnostic, design, implementation and change management stages by working within cross functional teams 
  • Oversee several project teams to complete required objectives within a wave to achieve desired targets 
  • Provides subject matter expertise to team members and clients 
  • Build a high performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.   

Functional Competencies: 

  • Certified in Lean Six Sigma and/or PMP is an asset 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, problem solving and project management skills 
  • Work effectively in a team environment and independently as required 
  • Working knowledge of various IT concepts (e.g., strategy, services, operating models, application development lifecycle, ITIL, Agile, etc.) is an asset 
  • Highly proficient in analytical and presentation tools (Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint) 

 

Education/Experiences: 

  • Experience in technology/management consulting or a related function in industry is a must 
  • Post-secondary degree in business, information technology or related discipline 
  • Masters/MBA or graduate/professional designation such as CFA/CA is considered an asset 
  • Spanish fluency is an asset 
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including cost reduction/productivity improvement expertise 
  • Solid management experience in leading multi-stakeholder complex initiatives, proven track record of meeting deliverables on time and within budget
