Purpose of Job
The Senior Manager, Data & Reporting Analyst is responsible for creating reports and analytics results that track performance in key areas such as digital customer adoption, usage and sales. This role acts as the digital data SME in performing technical data analysis, producing monthly reports and being the group’s data representative. Through data ETL and working closely with various data teams and Enterprise Data Warehouse / Data Lake, this role updates key digital data in databases and maintains data integrity. Outside of regular data/reporting deliverables, this role also provides trending analysis, data-backed insight, as well as supports campaign measurement and new functionality development support towards the bank’s digital transformation objectives.

Major Accountabilities


  • Works with various Data Teams, Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Lake to ensure month-end data production runs in orderly fashion, and address/resolve data anomalies
  • Performs data pulls from various sources (SQL and non SQL) and maintain data integrity through data validation and auditing
  • Tracks customer adoption, usage and sales for multiple digital channels (ScotiaOnline, Mobile Apps, Mobile Web) and identifies underlying trends and behaviours
  • Independently creates various reports and dashboards for the needs of broad audience, includes Executives, Enterprise Strategy, Digital Organization, Operation Teams, etc.
  • Updates existing MIS data systems with digital data
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports and analysis based on needs
  • Explores and accesses new data from various platforms, and ensure proper incorporation of any new data feeds
  • Interprets analytics results and presents findings to upper management team
  • Performs measurement of digital marketing campaigns, new product development and new customer experience functionalities
  • Participates in future development and improvement of MIS systems that might involve SAS/SQL, AS400, Hadoop/Hive and other data and reporting systems
  • Identifies and deliver new means of enhancing business intelligence and analytics

Education/Work Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Digital Marketing, Business, or related fields
  • 5-7 years of proven track record in data analytics or technical disciplines in financial or telecommunication industry
  • Python, Spark, R with skills in SAS and SQL coding skills
  • Extended experience in analyzing customer, transaction and sales data
  • In-depth understanding of digital delivery channels (Mobile, Online, ABM, etc.)
  • Experience in analytical/statistics tools (eg. Excel, Alteryx, R)
  • Experience in graphing/visualization tools (eg. PowerPoint, Tableau)
  • Exposure in data management platforms (eg. DB2, Hadoop, Cloud solutions)
  • Passionate about data, digital innovations and cutting-edge technology
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skill
