This role leads the strategic decommissioning process supporting the Cloud Acceleration Program (CAP), one of Scotiabank’s top priorities. This program has enterprise-wide impact and requires effective communications, strategic planning, management, and execution.
The Senior Manager, Decommissioning Lead plays a critical role as both a technical and strategic business partner to manage the application and server decommissioning plans in support of Cloud migration efforts. They collaborate closely with development teams to understand their workflows and requirements and lead the management of the application and server decommissioning plans, while ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

- Develops and executes detailed decommissioning plan and schedules, considering constraints such as project timelines, resource requirements and potential risk, to minimize disruption to business activities and ensure successful project delivery.
- Partners with project teams, including internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
- Closely collaborates with the Senior Manager, Migration Lead to ensure plans are aligned and tracks program benefits to capture value as hardware/software is no longer used.
- Works with the team to oversee decommissioning roadmap. Understands key business and technical issues that impact the migration plan and adjusts plans to support decommissioning activities.
- Measure and monitor progress to ensure decommissioning plans are delivered on-time and within budget, and that they meet or exceed expectations.
- Conduct release readiness reviews, milestone reviews and business Go/No-Go reviews.
- Work closely with the business to baseline and monitor project scope and activate change requests as needed.
- Provide regular and clear progress updates to stakeholders, highlighting achievements, risks, and mitigation reporting.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and other artefacts.
- Identifies and resolves project issues and obstacles to keep the project on track.
- Lead and facilitate requirement sessions, document outcomes and follow up on actions assigned to ensure completion.
- Assist in the development of project management and change management plans that incorporate all business, technology and operational aspects of the project.
- Seeks opportunities throughout the engagement for process optimization to enhance the efficiency of migration and decommissioning efforts.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience.
- Exceptional project management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience managing technology projects.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with a proven track record in managing relationships with cross functional stakeholder and external vendors.
- Highly motivated individual driven to deliver in alignment with the organizations mandate and goals.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
