Reporting to the Director of Cyber Threat Hunting, the Senior Manager of Cyber Threat Hunting role within the Cyber Threat Hunting team is responsible for managing a team of technical professionals responsible for pro-actively analyzing information across various data sources to detect cyber-security and user-conduct based threats against Scotiabank.


The Senior Manager of Cyber Threat Hunting will resource manage and track the execution of pro-active investigations, focusing on maintaining the integrity, authenticity, and legal admissibility of digital evidence as required to support cyber-crime, data loss, and civil/criminal proceedings.  The Senior Manager of Cyber Threat Hunting will manage team workload and expectations on threat hunting activities, with a priority of keeping the bank safe, including: developing security controls and continuous security monitoring capabilities with key stakeholders.




  • Drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Manage response to day-to-day findings, activities, and decisions, guided by the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and manage people with a focus to attract, retain, develop and motivate their team, by fostering an inclusive work environment and, using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Manage and maintain a working relationship between with technical teams, internal and external stakeholders, and management to assess and troubleshoot a variety of technical issues.
  • Manage global threat hunting operations using analytics-driven, awareness-driven, and intelligence-driven analysis methodologies to detect and mitigate threats across the enterprise.
  • Drive the implementation of process and control maturity opportunities, as identified through threat hunting operations.
  • Ensure that proper chain of custody is maintained and that all evidence recovery/collection methods are conducted, managed, and archived in a manner consistent with proven industry standards to maintain preservation and protection of data and evidence in its original form.
  • Participate as a key stakeholder in the Bank’s Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT) and incident management engagements
  • Support, develop and maintain mechanisms for occurrence reporting and management threat hunting engagements.
  • Provide advisory services to enhance enterprise Information and Cyber Security engagements.
  • Continue to improve processes including feedback to areas under review regarding control issues.

Complete localized training and participate in resource capacity building


Education / Experience / Other Information

  • +6 years working experience in information/cyber security or related field; or a Bachelor's degree in an approved field from an accredited university and a minimum of +8 years of documented and relevant experience.
  • Professional certifications and membership of associations in the field of information/cyber security is desired (ex. Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)).
