Purpose
The Senior Manager, Corporate Functions Compliance, plays a pivotal role in shaping and advancing our global Corporate Functions (CF) Compliance Program. This position Contributes to the oversight of the Global Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Program to ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Enables a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Protect the Bank and enable client primacy objectives by supporting compliance programs across diverse teams and geographies
- Leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to enhance risk identification and improve the CFC program.
- Maintain Corporate Functions Operating Model for Corporate Functions, applicable standards, policies, procedures and related documentation relevant to CF Compliance.
- Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory and industry developments to ensure compliance risks are being properly identified and mitigated.
- Have ongoing monitoring and interactions with CFs, including meetings, attendance at select committees and review relevant reporting
- Assess Risk Profiles: Offer informed opinions on compliance risk across Corporate Functions and maintain documentation that meets standards.
- Independent Oversight: Supports risk owners and provides effective challenge to strengthen the Banks regulatory compliance management framework.
- Advice and Counsel: Provide ongoing compliance advice to CF with respect to the implementation and execution of the RCM program activities ensuring alignment with the Compliance Management Framework (CMF).
- Support executive decision-making: Through timely identification and escalation of regulatory compliance matters allowing for informed decision making.
- Partner on Reviews and Audits: Collaborate on internal audits, external reviews, and regulatory inquiries to maintain transparency and accountability.
- Contribute to other activities and initiatives of CF Compliance as required
- Supports Issue Remediation: Support the resolution of internal, external, and regulatory compliance matters with
- Support Insightful Reporting: Coordinate and prepare executive-level reporting utilizing analytics, key metrics insights and provide insights on ongoing compliance themes that impact the Bank’s compliance risk profile for CF.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
Education/Experience
- Post-Secondary education with relevant experience in the financial services industry, preferably within Global Risk Management Function, Business Line, Regulatory Compliance or Audit.
- Strong relationship management, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and communication skills, and results orientated, and data driven approach in decision making
- Experience using analytics to identify areas of risk and opportunities for improvement
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (including Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Proficient working knowledge in systems and platforms such as OpenPages, Global Issues Management System (GIMS), SharePoint.
