Purpose

Manages and contributes to the overall success of the Collateral Operations team within the Collateral Management Utility, Global Wholesale Operations ensuring specific individual goals, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted and services delivered are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Oversees OTC/Repo collateral operations team whose mandate is to ensure that appropriate measures and controls are in place to allow for key exposure mitigation functions to operate properly.
  • Manages collateral management team that covers exposure management functions across the OTC Non-Cleared, Repo, and US MBS product lines. Provides additional risk management functions as a key service provider to certain Bank LATAM and European subsidiaries as part of an established outsourcing model. 
  • Leverage excellent understanding of collateral margin processes and derivative products, and a familiarity with with ISDA, CSA and GMRA documentation by providing valued added margining services to all GBM business lines. Also provides margin related update and escalation services to all related GBM risk functions (e.g GRM, Counterparty Credit Risk, Front Office risk groups). 
  • Champions and drives a customer and risk focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge while continuing to ensure that all team personnel operate with a risk awareness mindset.
  • Provides oversight and compliance with budgetary allocations to business lines. Ensuring best value spend against complex support requirements. Manages costs by reviewing continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction strategies, technology rationalization and consolidation, business complexity demand and economic return analysis.
  • Is expected to participate and contribute to various external focus group (such as ISDA Working Groups), and keep abreast on latest regulatory developments.
  • Identifies and evaluates various automation and technology solutions that improve productivity, cost, service support delivery, capacity, scale and standardization. Works collaboratively with GWRT to design and build the necessary technology platforms and/or tools. An active participant in appropriate working and governance structures to ensure effective prioritization of operational enhancements and future investments.  Ensures strategic alignment and influence in GWO and S&C strategies, leveraging synergies to promote built to last outcomes.    
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, credit risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or PMP are considered assets).
  • Working experience in collateral operations or OTC derivatives.
  • Strong understanding of collateral management processes, including margining, exposure management, and settlement across OTC derivatives, Repo, and MBS products.
  • Familiarity with ISDA, CSA, and GMRA documentation and their application in margining and risk mitigation.
  • Proven experience managing teams in a high-volume, risk-sensitive environment, ideally within a global banking or capital markets context.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, macros), and Access. Experience with collateral management platforms (e.g., AcadiaSoft, Calypso, Murex) is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve operational workflows, with a focus on automation, scalability, and regulatory compliance.

 

Work Arrangement: Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Travel may be required on an exception basis.
