Senior Manager, Client Insights & Analytics, Canadian Commercial Banking

 

Purpose

 

Contributes to the overall success of the Data & Analytics team within Canadian Commercial Banking, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. This role is responsible for leading the development and ongoing management of executive reporting, strategic insights, and the application of AI to drive business performance. Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Turns data into insights to drive revenue, improve customer experience, and support strategic priorities like client primacy and portfolio growth
  • Manages relationships with executive stakeholders, translating business needs into analytical projects and collaborating with Data and BI teams to achieve shared goals
  • Develops and owns executive dashboards, providing leadership with clear and reliable insights on business performance
  • Leverages the internal AI platform to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and create new analytical capabilities
  • Enriches internal analytics with external industry trends, competitive intelligence, and market data to provide deeper strategic context for business performance
  • Contributes to the Commercial Banking AI strategy by identifying high-value use cases and partnering with developers to inform the design and champion the adoption of new AI-powered solutions
  • Pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values and Code of Conduct, while ensuring adherence to day-to-day business controls for operational, compliance, and conduct risk
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.  Develops team expertise in data mining and strong analytics capabilities

 

Education / Experience / Other Information 

 

Educational Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Economics or Statistics
  • Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

 

Experience:

 

  • 3+ years of experience in Data Visualization and Business Intelligence with strong proficiency in building interactive executive dashboards using PowerBI
  • 3+ years experience in building data pipelines and/or data warehousing
  • 3+ years of direct experience working with and presenting to senior leadership, with a proven ability to advise and influence their decisions
  • Deep expertise in processing, cleansing, and structuring large, complex datasets from multiple sources to enable analytics and insight generation
  • Proven experience identifying business applications for AI/ML and collaborating with technical teams to deliver solutions
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python or other data analysis tools/languages.

 

Skills:

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Strong prioritizing, analytical, presentation, project management and planning skills
  • Effective strategic thinking, organizational know-how and influencing skills are critical for success
  • High degree of knowledge of commercial products and profit drivers 
  • Strong technical skills in Math, Computer Science or related fields
  • Excellent design and delivery capabilities

 

Working Conditions

 

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
