The Senior Manager, Canadian Wealth Management Finance Initiatives is responsible for leading the implementation, maintenance, training, testing, and support of CWM Finance initiatives and projects. This role assumes close collaboration with CWM Finance teams and Wealth business lines to ensure financial models are effectively designed, aligned with evolving business needs, and successfully implemented. The Senior Manager will drive the efficient use of financial and IT tools across Canadian Wealth Management (CWM) and contribute to the continuous improvement of financial planning processes.
 

The incumbent is also responsible for working together with the CWM Finance teams on other various initiatives related to financial reporting, forecasting and planning as required.

 

Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will:

 

  • Lead/support the implementation of financial planning and reporting tools withing Canadian Wealth Management Finance (CWM) by coordinating implementation, testing, and use of different software & applications for financial modeling, reporting and planning purposes.
  • Collaborate and lead the key stakeholders (Finance and business teams) to ensure that financial reporting, planning and forecasting tools & solutions reflect evolving business strategies and requirements.
  • Assist the CWM lead in driving transformation in reporting, planning and forecasting processes:
    • Engage with business stakeholders to understand their processes and requirements.
    • Provide guidance on solution architecture to ensure efficient model design.
    • Translate business needs into functional requirements and use cases.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions to enhance system performance.
    • Lead updates to existing models to reflect changing business needs and maintain data accuracy.
    • Monitor system performance, manage user access, and ensure data integrity.
    • Foster a high-performance and inclusive work environment
    • Lead, coordinate, and support the testing of financial planning and reporting models to ensure reliability and robustness.
    • Deliver training to CWM team and create user documentation to enhance Anaplan adoption and proficiency.
    • Provide ongoing technical support and issue resolution for CWM end-users.
  • Provide support in financial reporting, forecasting, and planning activities for Canadian Wealth Management on an as-needed basis. Assist with performance metrics, planning models, compensation calculations, and ad hoc business line requests.
  • Provide strong leadership by:
    • Ensuring expectations including accountabilities, objectives and goals are effectively negotiated, communicated and monitored for direct report(s)
    • Ensuring employee development plans are in place and completing performance reviews for all direct report(s)
    • Ensuring there is fair and equitable treatment of employees in keeping with the bank’s guidelines and principles
    • Ensuring that performance/conduct issues are effectively dealt with through proper and prompt documentation/discussion, escalating when appropriate
    • Creating and encouraging open lines of communication for all staff and that they are aware of the Chain of Communication
    • Designing, establishing and maintaining an organizational structure and staffing strategy to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

 

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years work experience in finance related activities.
  • MBA or an Accounting designation is preferred.
  • Wealth Management industry experience would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience at a management level position within the Financial Services Industry.
  • Experience with implementation of financial planning and reporting tools is an asset
  • In-depth knowledge of planning & reporting processes
  • Advanced technical skills (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting and IFRS.
  • Ability to work independently, and as a key partner with business heads.
  • Ability to provide strong analysis and recommendations to Senior Management relating to the business lines’ performance.
  • Knowledge of wealth and banking products would be an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of product profitability principles based on FTP methodology
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial and operational information
  • The incumbent must be a self-starter, well organized with strong problem solving skills and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills are important as the incumbent must be able to work with various levels of Bank staff and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
