Purpose
Support the development, execution, and communication of GBM’s strategic mandate by contributing to large-scale strategy planning, performance monitoring, and reporting. This role plays a key part in aligning strategic initiatives across business lines and geographies to drive performance and achieve business objectives.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with the Director, Transformation and the MD, Business Insights to support senior leadership, business line executives, and cross-functional stakeholders in refining and continuously evaluating GBM’s strategic plan.
  • Ensure strategic alignment across all GBM business lines and global regions.
  • Develop high-impact materials and performance indicators for key audiences including Scotiabank’s Board of Directors, Executive Leadership, investors, and rating agencies.
  • Monitor and report on core KPIs through dashboards and progress reports, tracking execution of GBM strategy and delivery of APP commitments.
  • Support the annual strategic planning and goal-setting process in partnership with Business Line/Functional Leaders, Regional Leaders, COO teams, and GBM Finance.
  • Prepare presentations and briefing materials for internal, Executive, Board, and investor discussions.
  • Assist with strategy-related initiatives, including ad hoc projects and reporting, in collaboration with business managers and leadership.
  • Respond to requests from Investor Relations and Enterprise Strategy by providing timely data, performance updates, and business metrics.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses to support decision-making and performance insights.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of GBM’s market positioning and strategic goals, effectively communicating current priorities within a broader strategic context.
  • Integrate the Bank’s risk appetite and culture into daily decision-making and strategic activities.
  • Maintain the GBM Strategy document repository, ensuring all presentations, reference materials, and artifacts are current and accessible.
  • Champion a high-performance and inclusive work environment.
  • Promote operational efficiency and ensure adherence to business controls related to operational risk, regulatory compliance, AML/ATF, and conduct risk, in alignment with the Bank’s risk management frameworks and guidelines.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • A university degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience in management consulting or corporate strategy is an asset but not required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong command of the full Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and/or Microsoft Power BI is considered an asset.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly grasp and analyze complex business models and operational structures.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented environment; adaptable to shifting priorities and directions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams, both as a contributor and a leader.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present data and insights clearly and effectively.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Strong planning and time management capabilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing critical priorities.
