Purpose

 

The Senior Manager, Business Delivery is a key member in the overall success of the business through initiating, developing, delivering ongoing initiatives related to Private Investment Counsel.  The role is also critical in compiling and executing on key change management initiatives and needs within PIC. The incumbent leads complex cross-functional initiatives and works closely with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver on his/her objectives.

 

The Senior Manager, Business Delivery acts as the PIC representative within the SWM and other internal bank partner environments as SME and/or Product Owner for various strategic projects. 

The incumbent must, in coordination with PIC’s Senior Manager, Executive Office and the PIC Leadership Team, oversee the creative development and execution of projects and initiatives to support the Private Investment Counsel’s key strategic priorities and foster employee enablement.  He/she will need to provide ongoing strategic technology & operational support and delivery to the PIC senior leadership team, business line and project leaders in the implementation of their business strategies and initiatives. This includes a lead role in the creative development, project management and oversight of multiple executive, employee and corporate initiatives of significant complexity.

In addition, the incumbent is responsible for identifying potential issues around timing and/or potential impact, and providing recommendations to mitigate these risks.

 

Major Accountabilities:

 

1. Responsible for business, technological and operational project delivery, efficiency and improvement activities representing the interests of Private Investment Counsel by:

  • Acting as a subject matter expert in the development and implementation of technology and operational strategies.
  • Supporting the field and PIC EO team members with technology or process expertise, escalating requests (as it pertains to Salesforce, or other active projects.)
  • Proactively seeking opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs by exploring operational efficiencies in the business and providing expert knowledge and support to the Leadership Team
  • Participating/leading user acceptance testing on behalf of the business to ensure proper understanding of requirements
  • Providing support and input to the various project initiatives ensuring the operational and technology requirements of PIC are understood and met within Wealth Management and the rest of the Scotiabank Group
  • Working with Operations & Technology counterparts to help deliver innovative, results-focused solutions to support the and executive office business line staff and to deliver a consistent and high quality end user experience
  • Acting as a subject matter expert and work within the defined communication strategy and work closely with business partners and the WealthNet team to document and ensure timely access to information, including policies, procedures, job aids and tools
  • Providing responsive, service-oriented field support including troubleshooting of operational and/or technical issues

 

2. Responsible for executing  the operational and technological aspects of the Strategic roadmap & change management maps by:

  • Participating in the tracking, consolidation and reporting on the progress of multiple projects against the Private Investment Counsel strategic priorities (i.e. strategic roadmap) in conjunction with divisional project leads and key support functions such as Finance, Operations & Custody
  • Partnering with Finance, capture financial analytics and other key data points, including the proactive identification of key action items, potential synergies, interdependencies, and critical issues specific to PIC’s strategic roadmap
  • Leveraging the strategic roadmap to build the change management maps that identify the potential issues / risks around timing and magnitude of impact based on ongoing initiatives / programs
  • Negotiate technology changes with IT&S to increase usability, minimize change, and retain existing tools and infrastructure. (e.g. IT store, CAMS/LAM work,
  • Identifying practical recommendations to Private Investment Counsel management on how to mitigate those risks
  • Working closely with all project champions and stakeholders to identify resource or objective synergies and report upon individual projects to reconcile the overall PIC project roadmap to identify gaps, overlaps, resourcing allocations, and obstacles to successful delivery

 

3. Management of projects/initiatives through the various phases from requirements through implementation (working independently or within cross functional teams)by :

  • Initiating, overseeing and managing the delivery of multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Participating in defining business requirements and processes by reviewing  and assessing  existing operational workflows and identify areas of improvement
  • Liaising with appropriate project managers/teams as required to monitor timely completion
  • Implement changes with minimal impact field by leveraging any existing established infrastructure, processes and tools while determining change to the field. 
  • Participating in the coordination of project plans and tracking progress
  • Determining whether improvements/recommendations warrant further investigation
  • Participating in the development of feasibility reviews
  • Building business case and cost projections and articulation of project benefits and objectives for presentation to decision makers
  • Overseeing the completion and coordination of project plan activities in concert with other team members and stakeholders
  • Motivating and focusing efforts of business line/functional team members without direct authority
  • Keeping management and stakeholders up to date on the project’s progress/ issues; recommend improvements to current and future projects.
  • Obtaining stakeholder agreement to implement rollout
  • Keep management and stakeholders informed through periodic status reports and through immediate advice of significant issues

 

4. Manage and/or contribute towards the development and production of communications and change management components relating to various operational, technological, regulatory and compliance requirements by:

  • Providing insight and direction to project teams and key partners in the communication of critical messages related to the successful execution of Private Investment Counsel's strategic priorities as they relate to operational, technology.
  • Managing the delivery of and adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements for  operations and technology initiatives in close collaboration with the National Field Operations, PIC Operations and Compliance , and working closely with the support teams to ensure proper delivery and adherence to these initiatives within defined timeframes
  • Providing the Managing Director and VP, with ongoing support in synthesizing information and developing client-friendly communications to meet the information needs of the PIC management team.

  • Identifying and supporting training and developmental needs of team members
  • Managing staffing requirements and departmental workloads 

 

 

Education/Work Experience/Designations

 

  • 10+ years of experience in operations, technology, change management and/or project management, preferably within a financial services firm
  • Exceptional communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and drive employee engagement across a large employee base, at all levels within the organization
  • Experience developing and deploying large-scale change management programs across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Excellent and proven analytical, creative problem solving and strategic thinking skills to critically examine issues. Proven judgment as issues can be complex and without precedent.
  • Thorough understanding of Private Investment Counsel organizational structures and delivery channels.
  • Strong knowledge of Private Investment Counsels operations and sales environment
  • Through knowledge of policies, procedures, operational processes and systems that support PIC
  • Working knowledge of financials.
  • Understanding of the Bank's project management methodology an asset.
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills
