The Application Manager is responsible for the end‑to‑end ownership, stability, strategic evolution, and governance of a GCF application. This role ensures that applications are reliable, secure, compliant, and aligned with business and technology strategies. The manager leads cross‑functional teams and partners closely with senior stakeholders to deliver high‑impact technology outcomes that enable business performance.

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • Oversee the full application lifecycle—including planning, design, development, deployment, maintenance, and retirement—to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and business objectives.
  • Lead the execution of application enhancements, upgrades, currency initiatives, and decommissioning programs, following established governance frameworks (aligned with processes such as currency, patching, SSL lifecycle, DBR testing).
  • Ensure applications adhere to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and security standards, including alignment with enterprise security practices
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, analysts, and support personnel, providing clear direction, performance feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, risk partners, architecture teams, and support teams
  • Facilitate effective communication with management, articulating risks, resourcing needs, application health, and roadmap impacts
  • Ensure operational stability, overseeing incident management, problem resolution, monitoring, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Drive improvements in performance, resiliency, and availability, working closely with support teams
  • Manage and enforce change management processes to minimize production risk.
  • Develop and maintain multi‑year application roadmaps aligned with organizational goals and architecture standards.
  • Own and manage application budgets, including forecasting and cost control
  • Drive innovation opportunities, modernization initiatives, and cloud‑first adoption where applicable.
  • Ensure applications remain compliant with regulatory, audit, and risk requirements
  • Establish and maintain proper controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
  • Identify operational, technical, and security risks; propose and execute mitigation plans.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? 
 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or other relevant discipline.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive experience in application management, technology delivery, platform engineering, or similar roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing application teams, complex systems, and mission‑critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of application lifecycle management, DevOps practices, cloud technologies, integration patterns, and enterprise architecture.
  • Experience managing budgets and cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Certifications in Agile, ITIL, cloud (GCP/Azure), or project management (PMP/ACP) considered an asset
  • Leadership with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills suited for senior audiences
  • Deep understanding of security, compliance, and regulatory environments for enterprise applications.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands‑on operational oversight.
