Purpose


The Senior Manager, Analytics and Insights, GWM Business Risk Management Team in Canada, will help drive and support the execution of Global Wealth Management (GWM) strategic goals and priorities by creating and managing monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting that provides insight to the risk program for GWM’s senior management.  The incumbent will work closely with a diverse set of data owners and stakeholders to integrate data and information from multiple sources to develop dashboards, reporting, and contribute to the development of Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators. 

 

 

Accountabilities 

 

Reporting directly to the Director, Business Risk Management & Strategic Initiatives, GWM and working with GWM Senior Management, the Senior Manager will support and contribute to the teams ongoing leadership and ensures management receives timely and relevant information relating to, amongst other things, risk assessment, regulatory developments, monitoring and testing results, internal audit, and regulatory review results, regulatory inquires and stakeholder feedback. Specifically, these accountabilities include the following:

•    Provide senior management with consistent, consolidated, annotated reporting solutions with analytical and business insights to help management make informed decisions.

•    Lead and manage the creation and maintenance of analytical tools (advanced Excel tools) and reporting dashboards (e.g. PowerBI) in respect to GWM non-financial and regulatory risks

•    Lead and coordinate GWM Business Risk Management reporting deliverables by liaising with leadership and data owners from various business lines and functional groups. 

•    Identify, track, and communicate enhancement opportunities and analytic defects, and lead and/or participate in the implementation process.

•    Develop and enhance tools and processes through innovative use of available technologies.

•    Create detailed documentation and training guides for tools and systems, and ensure all processes are clearly documented. 

•    Support and continuously improve the on-going initiatives in respect to GWM non-financial and regulatory risk program by providing ad hoc analysis/reports, monitoring efficiency/effectiveness of reporting through analytical processes, soliciting feedback from stakeholders, and critically assessing procedures. 

•    Ensuring departmental objectives are met by keeping current on rapidly changing technological trends, self-teaching and maintain an understanding of new software development technologies. 

•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 

•    Manages initiatives and perform other duties to support the operations of the GWM Business Risk Management department, including organizing townhalls, education/training sessions, onboarding and BCP initiatives.

Education / Experience

 

•    University Degree or College Diploma, preferably with programming experience
•    A Proven ability to critically assess, prioritizes tasks, and delivers meaningful results in a fast-paced environment.
•    Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), and the ability to exercise diplomacy and judgement to effectively work with end users, members of project teams, stakeholders and senior executives across global organization. 
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, such as VLOOKUP, Nested Ifs, SUMFs, Fuzzy Logic
•    Proficiency with languages and tools: Python, VBA
•    Proficiency with data structuring, analytics and visualizations/case management software (e.g. Tableau, R, PowerBI, SQL)
•    Excellent knowledge and experience in programming, development, database design and related technologies
•    Ability to come up with solutions and technical design based on high level business requirements.
•    Passionate about programming, technology, and improving processes
•    Proficient at quickly learning/understanding code to troubleshoot and fix bugs.
•    Wealth Management industry knowledge (preferred)
•    Strong organization & problem-solving skills.
•    Self-starter and independent worker
•    A sense of ownership, commitment to ongoing improvement and ability to proactively anticipate problems and implement solutions
