Contributes to the overall success of the Data & Analytics team within Canadian Commercial Banking, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. This role is responsible for driving AI strategy and applications within Commercial Banking by leading the development of AI agents, building AI-ready data products, and acting as the critical bridge between frontline business users and technical engineering teams. Ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Aligns all AI initiatives with the broader "Scotia Intelligence" strategy, identifying high-value use cases that support Commercial Banking's strategic priorities, such as client primacy and Mid-Market portfolio growth.
  • Leads the design, development, and deployment of AI agents on the internal agentic platform, directly addressing the needs of frontline users and business leaders.
  • Develops and manages AI-ready data products and assets, ensuring data from core systems (Salesforce, nCino, Creditlens) is structured, cleansed, and optimized for AI applications.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between Commercial Banking business stakeholders and technical partners (AI support, data engineering, and AI governance), ensuring solutions are technically sound, compliant, and deliver tangible business impact.
  • Applies deep business acumen and knowledge of industry best practices to translate complex business challenges into actionable AI and analytics projects.
  • Pursues effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values and Code of Conduct, while ensuring adherence to day-to-day business controls for operational, compliance, and conduct risk.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions, particularly regarding AI governance and data privacy.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vision/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Educational / Experience / Other Information:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree in relevant fields is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in AI enablement, product management, or advanced analytics, with a proven track record of bridging the gap between business strategy and technology.
  • Direct experience building, deploying, or managing AI agents, LLMs, or machine learning solutions in a corporate environment.
  • Experience developing AI-ready data products and structuring complex datasets from multiple sources to enable advanced analytics.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams and frontline business users.
  • Familiarity with cloud and AI platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure, Databricks) and modern AI/data ecosystems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, Python, Bash/Shell, Json, YMAL, HTML etc.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate complex technical AI concepts into clear business outcomes for senior leadership and frontline staff.
  • Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of commercial banking products, industry best practices, and profit drivers.
  • Strong prioritizing, analytical, presentation, project management, and planning skills.
  • Effective strategic thinking, organizational know-how, and influencing skills are critical for success in driving AI adoption.
  • High degree of empathy for the end-user experience to ensure AI tools are practical and impactful.
