Purpose

 

The Senior Manager, Actuarial Services is a critical role within Global Insurance, accountable for the delivery, analysis, and governance of actuarial valuation, financial reporting, and capital outputs for the Canadian insurance business.

 

This role is central to ensuring the stability, quality, and continuity of actuarial execution in Canada, providing both technical leadership and disciplined delivery across key financial and regulatory processes. The position plays a key role in strengthening local actuarial capability while ensuring outputs are reliable, well-controlled, and aligned with internal governance standards and professional actuarial requirements.

 

This role will also support the broader objective of aligning actuarial practices with emerging global standards, ensuring integration into a globally coordinated actuarial function over time.

 

What you will be doing:


Valuation, IFRS 17 & Financial Reporting

 

  • Lead the preparation, review, and analysis of actuarial valuation results for Canadian insurance entities, ensuring outputs are accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Own IFRS 17 valuation and reporting processes, including model execution, validation, and analysis of key performance drivers.
  • Provide clear and structured insight into financial results, including Source of Earnings and emerging experience trends.
  • Enhance valuation processes, models, and reporting tools to improve transparency, efficiency, and control.

 

Capital, Risk & Regulatory Reporting

 

  • Support capital adequacy frameworks, stress testing, and regulatory reporting which might include LICAT, EWST, DCAT, ORSA, and FCR.
  • Analyze capital and risk sensitivities and support interpretation for business and risk decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Risk teams to ensure alignment with enterprise frameworks.

 

Actuarial Analytics & Business Support

 

  • Lead experience studies and contribute to the development and validation of actuarial assumptions.
  • Support financial planning, forecasting, and business performance analysis.
  • Provide actuarial insight into product development and profitability assessments.
  • Contribute to strategic and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Act as the primary actuarial execution lead for the Canadian business.
  • Build strong relationships with Finance, Risk, and business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and oversee delivery across Canadian actuarial activities.


Do you have the skills to enable you to be successful in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Actuarial Science Degree 
  • Licensing – ACIA and completion of FCIA, close to fellowship, FSA 
  • 8 – 10 years of work experience 
  • Consulting experience and across markets preferred 
  • Specialized insurance experience preferred (life, property, pension)
