The Manager, Data Governance is a key member of the AML Data Governance Team. The mandate of the team is to define and implement data governance and data management processes aligned with policies defined by the Enterprise Data Governance group. The team will collaborate with multiple stakeholders within AML Risk and AML Technology to ensure that data management policies and standards are comprehensive and add value to existing processes while aligning with Bank standards and regulatory requirements.

The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and implementing data governance processes including documentation and compliance evidence. Additionally, responsibilities include supporting new data initiatives from a data governance perspective.  Responsibilities include supporting the periodic review of the AML domain adherence to the enterprise policy and standards as well as supporting Audit and regulatory items closure.


Key Accountabilities:


The Manager, Data Governance major accountabilities are:  

  • Providing support in performing compliance review activities and closure of audit issues.
  • Contributing as part of the Data Governance team to monitor data governance processes, i.e. data access, reference data, SLA, change management.
  • Providing support for multiple data governance initiatives as required such as development and maintenance of change management processes or supporting collection of data governance metrics.
  • Collaborating with other stakeholders including other risk teams within AML, Data Office and Technology to ensure that the AML data processes are consistent and align with enterprise policies.
  • Facilitating regular meetings with various stakeholders including Data Office, AML IT and AML Risk by setting agendas and bringing together material to support discussions as required.
  • Participate in the development and presentation of process implementation plans and strategies to stakeholders to gain their support and concurrence.
  • Managing components in maintaining metadata and lineage compliance as assigned 
  • Own a subset of the AML Data Governance processes, update, socialize, approve the process documentation.
  • Lead the establishing of the owned data governance processes and provide subject matter expertise in support of the various stakeholders including the business process owners, technology and AMD Data personnel.
  • Manage cross-functional initiatives to improve reference data management, data sharing agreement monitoring, access and change management.
  • Manage the BAU state of the processes owned including analysis and reporting. Develop reporting solutions as needed.


Experience / Education:


  • The incumbent must have experience and knowledge of data governance, working cross functionally within an environment of multiple data repositories, multi-systems, multi-architectures, multi-vendors and multi-business lines. 
  • Knowledge of bank and regulatory standards and principles related to data governance
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (written/verbal), teamwork and consensus building skills
  • Excellent skills in leadership, project management, time management, analysis & process design
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients, 
  • Demonstrated experience in taking initiative and exhibit creativity and adaptability in problem solving
  • Hands on experience with SQL, Business Intelligence or ETL tools in a Data Warehouse or Enterprise Data Lake setting
