The Senior Manager, Canadian Banking AML – Training & Communications reports to the Director, Canadian Banking AML – Program Effectiveness & Transformation and leads the sustainment and improvement of Canadian Banking’s AML and sanctions training and communications program. The incumbent will lead the development and execution of Canadian Banking’s training program, and oversee the development and delivery of AML and sanctions training to personnel across the business line. They will also lead maintaining and improving Canadian Banking AML’s communications program.

The incumbent will actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective area, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 
 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of Canadian Banking’s AML and sanctions training program, including the development and execution of the annual business line training plans.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development and delivery of AML and sanctions training courses, in collaboration with key partners in the second line and Global Learning & Development.
  • Lead the organization and execution of key training and communications events, including Canadian Banking AML’s annual training day.
  • Proactively address gaps, identify opportunities, and lead improvements to the training and communications program.
  • Contribute to the effective collaboration and successful execution of the AML program across Canadian Banking and the 2nd line of defense.
  • Assist with resolving issues and negotiating compromises between team members/stakeholders to meet objectives, overcome obstacles and/or recommend alternatives, as required.
  • Keep stakeholders up to date on progress and escalated issues, ensuring recommendations/solutions are provided where applicable.
  • Prepare status updates on project accomplishments against milestones on a scheduled and ad hoc basis, as needed.
  • •    Maintains regulatory awareness, current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practice

Experience/Education:

 

  • Strong knowledge and experience developing and delivering bank training programs
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF and sanctions regulations (CAMS designation, or working towards, a plus)
  • Strong performance orientation with a mind for efficiency and a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong communication skills and able to communicate complex information to various audiences
  • Strong relationship building competencies to build/maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders and business unit partners
  • Excellent strategic influencing skills
  • Solid familiarity with one or more Canadian Banking business lines (Retail, Commercial, or Wealth) would be an asset
  • Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Communications with a minimum of 4 years of relevant AML/ATF or banking experience
