This position is set in Scotiabank’s Research & Experiment centre in Waterloo, Ontario – Scotiabank FactoryU. We’re looking to fill our team with innovators, makers, creators and leaders who are flexible, curious, adventurous, versatile and responsive, and who are ready to roll up their sleeves in a collaborative and productive environment to get things done. As a Senior Innovation Product Manager, you will be an integral member of the Research & Experiment team, working with Engineering, Data and Design to develop and deliver proof-of-concepts (POCs) and prototypes to drive innovation to Scotiabank. 

 

Is this role right for you?

 

•    Responsible for working with innovation scrum teams (engineering, data and design) and business stakeholders to deliver business-focused POCs and prototypes
•    Develops the vision and roadmap for POCs and prototypes, creating/maintaining a detailed prioritized product backlog
•    Establishs a close relationship with the business to ensure their requirements are translated into the right technology products
•    Work with innovation scrum to determine feasible technical solutions and reasonable implementation timelines
•    Leverages technical and product expertise to complete the innovation delivery triangle
•    Engages day-to-day with the scrum teams writing and clarifying user stories, participating in sprint planning and reviews, backlog grooming, and prioritization
•    Facilitates problem-solving as required, working closely with design, development and delivery teams on implementation challenges
•    Manages engagement with bank stakeholders and effectively communicate POC and prototype plans and contents and expected refactoring timelines
•    Maintains an understanding of the financial services industry and trends in banking
•    Positions Scotiabank as a leader of innovation in the community by establishing a presence within the local Waterloo technology community

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?

 

•    Solid financial services industry experience (5+ years) in product innovation delivery, with good understanding of business drivers and levers
•    Strong problem solver with the ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress
•    Solid strategic influencing skills
•    Familiarity with Agile principles and values (experience in Jira, Confluence, etc.)
•    A curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty
•    Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at different levels in the organizations
•    Business, Engineering or Computer Science degree with related experience in product innnovation
