Contributes to the overall success of the Global Network Operations Centre (GNOC) as part of FPR (Firewall Port Request) implementation team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

• Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Superior problem-solving at the senior technical level that autonomously allows the incumbent to resolve network and firewall issues that may occur during the regular network operation.

• Follow closely the Bank’s established change management guidelines and autonomously identify scenarios when escalation processes need to be triggered to meet the department agreed SLAs.

• Execute rule implementation on the Scotiabank Firewall Infrastructure during the approved windows for FPRs, which go from 20:00 until 05:00 hours the following day, during weekdays, weekends and bank statutory holidays.

• Review, plan, document and follow established processes to implement and troubleshoot firewall rules required for different projects and applications.

• The incumbent must possess leadership skills to interact with diverse teams to coordinate the FPR/network implementation and support activities required to meet agreed activities and timelines. The incumbent will be closely working with the GNO shift, Global Network Engineering teams, application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure all application and security requirements related to these projects are met.

• Successfully handle FPR escalations coming from the business areas (Director and above levels) to resolve issues pertaining to the implementation of firewall rules. Interact with Security and Global Network engineering teams to resolve these escalations.

• Create and generate periodic reports directed at management audiences that provide an overview of the Global Network Operations firewall implementation metrics and KPIs. Be able to identify roadblocks and provide recommendations to resolve issues that improve the mentioned metrics and KPIs.

• Capable of working on all network operations related tasks and incidents.

• Conduct network health checks, provide reporting and issue incident communications.

• Attend bridge and troubleshooting calls.

• Work with support teams to fix user related network issues and open tickets with carrier and vendors for related network incidents.

• The Infrastructure Support Analyst will answer the 24/7 hotline and respond team emails.

• Implement changes as per provided MOP (Method of Procedure) and implement Firewall Port Requests (FPRs).

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Responsibly comply and adhere to the change management processes and policies dictated by the Bank as it pertains to the firewall and network implementation activities and day-to-day operations.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

• Post-secondary education in a technology related field.

• Hands-on experience managing and configuring Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) using Cisco FMC.

• Proficient in deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting firewall policies, IPS/IDS, and NAT rules via Cisco FMC.

• Experience with Fortinet FortiManager for centralized firewall management across multiple FortiGate devices.

• Skilled in creating and managing FortiManager policy packages, objects, and device groups.

• Cisco Certifications, CCNA required (CCNP an asset) and Fortinet certifications are required.

• Possess superior problem-solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues in a dynamic environment.

• Demonstrate a technical understanding of TCP/IP (e.g., routing, switching & security) and experiencing in network troubleshooting in large environments.

• Familiar with the following technical subjects: 1) BGP/OSPF protocols; 2) LAN/WAN technologies; 3) Cisco WiFi; 4) Fortinet Firewalls; 5) F5 Load Balancers; 6) Network Monitoring tools; 7) Aruba/Silver Peak SD-WAN; 8) Zscaler

• Possess a strong customer orientation and a keen ability to learn rapidly.

• Load Balancer certifications, F5 certifications an asset.

• Python scripting knowledge or experience an asset.
