Scotiabank has begun the journey to modernize both development practices and tools as well as have a more strategic view of business / IT relationship. The aim is to develop business / IT taxonomy and align IT planning to business imperatives.  We are looking to build our architecture team with influencers, makers, creators and industry leaders who will drive us forward and enhance the experience of our customers.


Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for managing the development and refresh of enterprise standards, including the requirements, principles and models for the enterprise's capability, processes and functions. The Enterprise Standards & Governance architect works with various project teams to lead the development of business architecture models including capability models, maturity models, process models, Business IT Roadmaps, Executive dashboard.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Define and maintain Architecture Standards Catalog.
  • Define and maintain Architecture Standard Process & Governance
  • Develop and socialize process for Standards Maintenance & Governance
  • Engage stakeholders in driving Standards Adoption
  • Maintain and evolve Standards Catalog working with Enterprise Architecture, stakeholders and Project teams
  • Support mapping of the capability model to the various business and technology components (business processes, data, applications)
  • Research and proactively identify leading Architecture Standards
  • Participate in Standards Review discussions
  • Identify opportunities for standardization and simplification


Functional Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Scotiabank’s technology landscape
  • Strong knowledge of capability maturity models
  • Knowledge of banking products and processes
  • Strong knowledge and breadth in technology options
  • Able to set direction and vision for Architecture Standards
  • Able to establish best practices for Architecture Standards
  • Knowledge of Enterprise architecture frameworks



  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in business / engineering
  • Knowledge / hands on experience in technology implementation and architecture
  • Senior executive and stakeholder management
  • 10+ years of technology experience
  • 5-7 years of banking/financial industry experience
  • Experience in business modeling
