The Team

The GBME Data Platform team delivers critical data capabilities across the bank, supporting both regulatory and non-regulatory systems. The platform currently supports 100+ source systems, enabling enterprise-scale development and solutioning using modern cloud and data technologies such as GCP, Kubernetes, Kafka, Apache NiFi, Elasticsearch, and Dremio. The team plays a key role in ensuring platform stability, security, compliance, and operational excellence, while enabling rapid onboarding and modernization of data workloads.

The Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer on the GBM Data Platform, you will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise to design, operate, and continuously improve the bank’s data platform infrastructure. This role is a senior, production-facing position with responsibility for platform onboarding, reliability, and operational support for regulatory and compliance-driven workloads.

This role includes participation in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems outside standard business hours.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

• Design, implement, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
• Provide senior-level DevOps guidance for onboarding regulatory and compliance data workloads.
• Define and promote CI/CD best practices and infrastructure automation across environments.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes and Helm charts.
• Maintain development, staging, and production environments (e.g., GKE clusters).
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide production support, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Monitor platform health using SLIs, SLOs, and proactive alerting.
• Automate provisioning and scaling using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool.
• Configure and maintain backup, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles with production responsibility.
• Strong experience administering and supporting Kafka and/or Elasticsearch clusters in production environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Docker in enterprise-scale deployments.
• Strong Linux system administration experience (RHEL preferred).
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD and automation tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash/Shell, and/or Groovy.
• Experience monitoring and managing system performance using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Dynatrace.
• Working knowledge of streaming platforms, SQL/NoSQL databases, and ETL solutions, preferably Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Apache NiFi.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills for complex production issues.
• Experience participating in on-call rotations supporting mission-critical production systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred/Nice to have Skills

• Experience working with GCP or other public cloud platforms.
• Experience supporting regulatory, compliance, or audit-driven enterprise platforms.
• Capital Markets or Banking industry experience.
• Experience contributing to enterprise DevOps standards, patterns, or cloud adoption strategies.
• Prior experience acting as a technical lead or mentor within a DevOps or platform team.
