We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic Capital Markets Platform Engineering team.

This role will focus on designing, building, and maintaining a secure, scalable, and resilient platform engineering in globally ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Manage and mentor a team of DevOps Engineers, fostering a high-performance and inclusive culture.
  • Partner with application development and business teams to ensure platform capabilities meet evolving needs.
  • Oversee delivery of platform key projects
  • Design and implement the core infrastructure components of platform that application runs on considering factors such as scalability, fault to tolerance, and security.
  • Collaborate with business / application development teams to ensure the platform can support the business logic and support application workloads effectively.
  • Automate product development life cycle.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot platform builds to ensure optimal performance and availability. Ensure upgrades are handled in a timely manner which helps in reducing EOL currency issues.
  • Accountable for and critical to building a high-trust culture environment to support psychological safety, defining structure and clarity within teams.
  • Communicating the meaning and impact of work, promoting cross-pollination of knowledge within the organization, and monitoring progress and adaption to necessary changes to achieve the goals.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

 

What You Bring

 

  • Computer Science Diploma or Degree; or related work experience
  • Must possess technical proficiency sufficient to effectively perform these activities.
  • Understanding of public cloud technologies (GCP/Azure or AWS)
  • Knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Awareness of DevOps and agile principles
