The Team
The Global Risk and Treasury Technology team provides development and support services for Group Treasury (including Structural Interest Rate Risk management, Asset/Liability Management, Funds Transfer Pricing, Liquidity Risk, Stress Testing) and Global Risk Management (Global Retail/Corporate/Commercial Credit Risk, Counterparty Credit Risk, Operational/Non-Operational Risk Management).
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and experience working in a major Canadian bank or financial institution. This role will lead the implementation of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions to support third-party vendor products in Azure, while ensuring seamless integration with on-premises data platforms and infrastructure. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, and secure enterprise environments, particularly within the financial services sector. You will be required to participate in multiple projects, including technical design, use cases, and process workflow of complex business processes for internal clients. You must possess the ability to work with a team of technology-focused peers and the ability to juggle multiple/concurrent tasks. You must thrive on challenges, be proactive, dynamic, and demonstrate initiative and eagerness to learn.
Some of the key accountabilities include:

Lead the design and deployment of Azure IaaS environments for vendor-hosted or vendor-integrated applications, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.

Collaborate with vendor technical teams and internal stakeholders to define infrastructure requirements, networking, security, and integration points.

Provision and manage virtual machines, storage, networking, and identity components in Azure, aligned with enterprise architecture and financial regulatory standards.

Design and implement hybrid cloud solutions, integrating Azure with on-premises data platforms, including databases, file systems, and legacy infrastructure.

Implement infrastructure automation using Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.

Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization of cloud-hosted solutions.

Provide guidance on GCP infrastructure components for hybrid or multi-cloud scenarios.

Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring compliance with SLAs, InfoSec policies, and audit requirements.

Document infrastructure designs, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.

Collaborate with InfoSec, DevOps, and application teams to ensure secure and compliant cloud deployments.

Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in Cloud engineering, DevOps, and CI/CD.
What You Will Bring to Succeed Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or infrastructure roles, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.

Proven experience implementing IaaS solutions in Azure, including VM provisioning, networking, storage, and identity management.

Exposure to GCP infrastructure services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and VPC networking.

Experience working in a major Canadian bank or financial institution, with understanding of financial data sensitivity, compliance, and operational controls.

Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).

Strong understanding of hybrid cloud architectures, including VPNs, ExpressRoute, and integration with on-prem systems.

Experience working with third-party vendor products in a cloud-hosted environment.

Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Microsoft certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.

Exposure to GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Cloud Engineer certification.

Experience with hybrid cloud environments and cloud migration strategies.

Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and CI/CD pipelines.

Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, OSFI, ISO 27001) and cloud security best practices.
