Senior Client Relationship Manager, Asset Finance, Commercial Banking


As the Senior Client Relationship Manager, Asset Finance, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of Specialized Financial Services in Canadian Business Banking by providing exceptional client service.


We are looking for a self-starter with a proven ability to develop strong and successful relationships with internal and external partners and excellent presentation skills.


What are the key accountabilities?


  • Meeting with assigned clients to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their industries, businesses and credit needs.
  • Identifying the requirement for any credit related ancillary bank services and introducing appropriate Scotiabank product experts
  • Negotiating all credit amendments with the client, using sound credit judgment to recommend approvals internally and managing subsequent legal documentation of same.
  • Mitigates the potential risk of credit losses and operational risk in the unit.
  • Assisting with the execution of transactions including financial analysis, risk rating modeling and deal write up
  • Supporting the Director in preparing client presentations (CAF and Term sheets) and negotiations. Conducting Industry research.
  • Continuously soliciting feedback from clients and liaising with 3rd party service providers such as lawyers, auditor and appraisers and ensuring services provided to our / clients satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all portfolio management accountabilities are executed in a timely manner (and to identify early warnings signs of potential problem accounts, etc.)

  • You have proven skills in financial analysis and risk assessment and a thorough understanding of the complexities of numerous financing mechanisms, as well as security/legal documentation, legal ramifications and remedies, and bankruptcy and insolvency implications
  • You have a good knowledge base of the diverse industries in which loans are granted is required
  • You are interested in economic, technological, and social trends and legislative issues potentially impacting both banking policies, as well as customers’ businesses and can demonstrate up-to-date knowledge.
  • You have fantastic communication skills (oral & written), and are skilled in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders
  • You have demonstrated sound business judgment through previous work experience
  • You are passionate about delivering exceptional client service, champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.


Do you have the skills & experience that will enable you to succeed in this role?


  • A post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or similar (MBA/CFA an asset)
  • 5+ years Asset-Based Lending OR 7+ years of Commercial/Corporate banking experience in analytical and client-facing roles
  • Analytical, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite including Excel and Word
  • Experience with Salesforce


Working Conditions:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  Limited travel domestically.
