What will you do?

 

  • Champion a customer‑focused culture, ensuring end‑to‑end integrity of business and technical requirements across digital banking journeys.
  • Analyze and develop functional and technical requirements based on solution documentation.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering and design sessions with multiple stakeholders, translating outcomes into user stories, use cases, sequence diagrams and process flows.
  • Drive joint application design and solutioning sessions with architecture, development and security teams to inform high-level estimates for large and medium-sized initiative intake.
  • Create, refine, and manage product and release backlogs, supporting prioritization, dependency management, and delivery forecasting.
  • Bridge the gap between Business and IT, ensuring shared understanding and alignment on both functional and non-functional requirements (such as reporting, performance, interfaces, and constraints).
  • Lead enterprise process engineering initiatives across Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, and Cryptography teams.
  • Maintain high quality documentation within centralized Confluence and SharePoint sites.
  • Provide input to improve engineering and delivery practices, identifying what works well and where improvements can be made.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment through information sharing and cross team cooperation.
  • Demonstrate strong personal values and a commitment to the Bank’s mission and customers.
  • Apply the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day analysis and design decisions.
  • Actively support effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring appropriate business controls across operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • 3+ years of hands-on technical experience as a Business Systems Analyst in a challenging IT system solution agile or lean environment.
  • Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex situations and navigate ambiguity.
  • You naturally notice every detail in documents, requirements, and conversations, and you help the team maintain clarity and consistency across everything we deliver.
  • You take pride in doing great work, and your drive to deliver high‑quality outcomes is simply part of who you are.
  • Excellent understanding and experience with microapps and microservices architecture, as well as RESTful and SOAP (XML & JSON), OpenAPI, and OAuth2.0.
  • Proficient with delivery and collaboration tools, including JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, MS Office, and Postman
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business, technology, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Work closely with Design, Development, and Testing teams across all phases of the SDLC to ensure requirements clarity, alignment with business objectives, timely issue resolution, and successful delivery of high quality solutions
  • Proven ability to author detailed user stories, translating business needs into functional requirements for client applications and technical requirements for APIs, including data contracts, validations, error handling, and acceptance criteria.
  • A proactive and dependable team player who communicates across teams to quickly resolve issues and keep initiatives on track.
  • Experience working with mobile applications (iOS/Android) is an asset.
