Purpose of Job:

 

The Senior Business Solutions Expert is a Senior Subject Matter Expert that leads a project team responsible for the delivery and daily operations of a project/application for Global Risk Management to meet their business needs. This includes overseeing and participating in the research and analysis of business processes and defining requirements that lead to the design and implementation of effective solutions. In addition, the candidate is responsible for the testing of new systems or enhancements as well as the integrity of daily operations and ensuring ongoing support, to all Global Risk units.

 

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Ensure successful and timely delivery of the project as well as the integrity of the daily operations.
  • Coach/mentor the Business Analysis team and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Responsible for Business Analysis Artifacts such as BRD’s, Tech Specs, IST Plan, Test Cases, evidence of test execution, UAT Strategy, UAT Test Plan.
  • Manage the relationship with business users, other project teams and other stakeholders.
  • Independently resolve complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs of Global Risk Management by applying their financial and technological knowledge to the design of methodologies, models, and/or systems solutions.  This may involve rapid prototyping, with requirements and solutions developed on an iterative basis that provides interim deliverables until a final production solution is created.  This includes conducting research and analysis, accurately and clearly defining user requirements and processes, and liaising with the users.
  • Participate in the systems implementation process by developing test cases, performing testing, defining user procedures and workflows, developing conversion and implementation strategies, verifying conversion, providing user documentation, providing user training, and providing post-implementation support
  • Provide business support to Global Risk Management
  • Conduct gap analysis between current process vs target state and propose viable Technology solutions
  • Gather requirements from business units and translate those to Design and Technical Specifications with developers
  • Understand data/system flow architecture to co-ordinate implementation of onboarding new / enhance existing sources to the Application supported
  • Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Division's business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, financial instruments, regulatory requirements, Back Office processes, and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide effective business solutions and services to the end user business lines
  • Analyze complex situations and problems and do the necessary research using multiple sources of information to help arrive at innovative solutions.

 

Skill, Experiences and Functional Competencies:

  • Ability to lead a team to handle diverse deliverables, often times simultaneously, and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented
  • A high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills necessary to relate to other people at their systems knowledge level
  • Ability to create business solutions that meet the clients’ needs
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Ability to solve technical problems/ processes and understand complex details
  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions related to Global Risk Management and Product Control to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Technical Skills: RiskWatch, Risk script, Unix, Scripting, Database queries, MS Excel
  • Must be a self-starter, reliable, highly motivated, results-oriented, customer-focused and attentive to details.
  • Valuation, market data knowledge and Risk knowledge  would be an asset.

 

Education and Other Requirements:

  • Post-secondary school degree in Business/Math/Finance/Computer Science or equivalent
  • Profession designations (i.e. CFA, or FRM) an asset
