Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses.

 

The Role

 

GBME is searching for a Senior Business Solutions Expert for Murex. This strategic role will be responsible for designing and delivering end-to-end solutions leveraging the Murex platform. This position serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that complex trading, risk, and post-trade processes are translated into robust, scalable, and compliant Murex solutions. The architect will play a pivotal role in driving digital transformation initiatives, optimizing workflows, and supporting business growth objectives.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills.  You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement Murex solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

  • Solution Design: Lead the analysis, design, and implementation of Murex-based solutions addressing trading, risk management, treasury, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business users, IT teams, and external partners to gather requirements, define solution architectures, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide architectural guidance to development teams, ensuring best practices in Murex configuration, integration, and custom development.
  • Project Delivery: Oversee the delivery lifecycle, from initial scoping and solutioning through implementation, testing, and deployment, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvement within the Murex environment, driving operational efficiency and reducing risk.
  • Compliance & Risk: Ensure solutions meet regulatory, compliance, and risk management requirements, working closely with governance teams.
  • Documentation & Training: Develop detailed solution documentation and deliver training to end-users and support teams.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of Murex product evolutions, industry trends, and emerging technologies, recommending enhancements to maintain a competitive edge.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Murex solution architecture, implementation, or support within a financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets products (e.g., FX, Fixed Income, Derivatives), risk management, and trade lifecycle processes.
  • Proven experience in solution design, business analysis, and project management.
  • Expertise in Murex modules (Front Office, Back Office, Risk, Reporting) and integration with external systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with Canadian regulatory requirements and financial industry standards is an asset.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of Murex architecture, data models, and system integration.
