Purpose

 

The Senior Business Analyst contributes to the overall success of the   Business Control Retail Product Controls & Regulatory Support team ensuring specific individual goals, plans; initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Business Control team which includes the Issue Management program, Control Self-Assessment (CSA) and Process Mapping team.  Primary accountability include working directly with the Business Control team for data extraction and review of moderate to significant complexity of impacted or in-scope accounts based on approved inclusion/exclusions using various data analytics methodologies to query impacted accounts across all issues. Secondary accountabilities including designing and generating  reports for the Business Control Mapping and Testing teams.

 

Key Accountabilities 

 

•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

 

•    Data extraction support:

 

- Responsible for data extraction and review of moderate to significant complexity of impacted accounts based on approved inclusion/exclusions using various data analytics methodologies to query impacted accounts across all issues. This could include closure validation of the remediation plans and reporting as required.
- Responsible for data extraction of accounts based on existing requirements for health checks with the purpose to ensure alignment to obligations.
- Providing expertise and recommendations for enhancing existing and developing new data extractions in support of health checks. 
- Support data extraction for Retail Compliance control testing which is performed annually throughout the year.
- Accountable for achieving data extraction by defined target dates.

 

•    Reporting support:

 

- Work closely with user tool owners and support with maintenance of Control Mapping and Testing user tools
-  Accountable to design and maintain Control Mapping and Testing reports which are leveraged to gather, track and report on Mapping and Testing progress and results
-  Responsible to find efficiencies in current tracking/reporting and bring suggestions to the management team on ways to find simplification.
-  Define evergreen schedule for review and release of reporting updates 
-  Responsible to ensure proper documentation is in place for user tools and reporting
  

•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
 

 

Education and Other Requirements

 

•    A recognized undergraduate quantitative degree (finance, business, engineering, computer science) or comparable business analysis experience is essential 
•    Strong written and oral communication skills
•    Experience developing business reports
•    In depth knowledge of business related computer software specifically Data Warehouse methodology, PowerBI, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Word (data import/export, complex VB scripts).
•    Expectation to utilize sound judgment in the interpretation of data and instructions.
•    SAS/SQL/VB/DAX experience
