Senior Associate, Technology & Innovation Banking (TIB – Roynat Capital), Canadian Business Banking - Toronto OR Ottawa
Purpose
The Technology & Innovation Banking team at Roynat Capital supports fast-growing Canadian technology companies with non-dilutive growth capital and comprehensive banking solutions—from seed to exit. The Senior Associate will join the team that manages the end-to-end process of structuring, due diligence, and underwriting for both new and existing client opportunities. The team maintains strong engagement with key stakeholders across the technology ecosystem, building meaningful relationships and generating valuable insights.
This role contributes to the profitable growth and quality of the team’s portfolio by conducting in-depth analysis, supporting complex deal execution, and ensuring ongoing portfolio monitoring and risk management. The Senior Associate also engages directly with clients, in collaboration with the coverage team.
Accountabilities:
• Supporting the Associate Directors and Directors with the structuring, underwriting, and closing of credit solutions for assigned prospects and clients.
• Assists in management of portfolio of accounts, ensuring timely completion of annual credit reviews, monitoring of loan compliance and tracking industry and client-specific trends, all with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
• Build and nurture cross-functional relationships within the Bank to deepen product knowledge and identify opportunities for ancillary revenue generation.
• Demonstrates ability to effectively manage multiple transactions and priorities at any given time, proactively managing workflow and ensuring high-quality deliverables across all deal teams.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

• Adhere to any regulatory and internal Bank policies and requirements.
Dimensions:
• Strong familiarity with venture debt, corporate lending, private credit and experiences working with technology companies
• Advanced credit analysis skills, with a deep understanding of capital structures for both venture-backed and non-venture-backed technology companies.
• Expertise in portfolio management, including risk evaluation and response to evolving situations.
• Experience managing competing priorities, deadlines, and mentoring analysts.
Education / Experience / Other Information:

- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in financial services or a related industry.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office specifically Excel
Working Conditions:
• Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Some travel may be required.
