Purpose


The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for all assigned tasks for Profit Close out process for Canadian and Foreign branches in FAR Specialized Accounting group. The primary responsibilities include but is not limited to supporting the Profit Settlements across the globe and maintaining accurate accounting records of the settlements, executing the settlements of Foreign Branch profit. This role will also be responsible to performing P&L and Balance Sheet analysis, retained earnings reconciliation for the Bank’s branches.   

 

Accountabilities 

 

•    Leads and oversees Canadian branches settlements. Reconciles and records closing entry of annual profit settlement for Canadian branches, and quarterly settlement for foreign remit and non-remit branches.
•    Prepare detailed Year End P/L analysis for all Canadian branches including the breakdown by currency of accounts (COAs) and assist in the settlement process in both source and EGL ledgers. 
•    Prepare and key PS-GL, AP-GL and EGL entries on monthly recurring entries.
•    Prepare monthly Bank’s Canadian and Foreign Branch Retained Earning reconciliation.
•    Perform analysis on FARs P&L and balances sheet accounts. 
•    Perform Profit Close Out GL P998 validation for all Bank’s branches.
•    Accurate and effective identification and resolution of account discrepancies; consistent and comprehensive recording of actions taken; effective liaison with balance owners and the escalation of complex variances are required to comply with SOX controls.
•    Expected to take a lead role in answering queries and providing supporting documentation to audit, providing reporting and analytical support (EGL, OBI, Essbase SmartView), and assisting with the compilation of the Bank’s Non-Consolidated Financial statements for Taxation, Capital Management and Regulatory Reporting
•    Work on Finance-FAR projects as assigned;  and on an ongoing basis, provide feedback on development and improvement of existing procedures to increase efficiency and to meet business goals and objectives.  The incumbent is expected to take intiative in process automation
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Education / Experience / Other Information 

 

•    Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, and/or an Accounting major
•    Professional accounting designation is an asset
