Purpose:
Contributes to the overall success of the Pricing & Finance team that supports Automotive Finance (AF) business line in Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Supports and executes the financial month-end close processes by: Completing the monthly reporting schedules; reviewing and analyzing results for reasonability; identifying new journal entries, reconciling entries, and pinpointing any outstanding items; recommending adjustments to the income statement and balance sheet as needed; reviewing appropriateness of month-end controls and make recommendations where applicable.
- Supports and executes forecasting and profit planning processes for the Automotive Finance business line by: Analysing pre-populated forward-looking numbers in Anaplan or other planning and forecasting software solution; reviewing for reasonability and recommending adjustments; summarizing results and forward-looking guidance; communicating effectively with all stakeholders in the business line and CB Finance.
- Supports, maintains, and runs pricing and profitability models for all products managed by Automotive Finance by: Refreshing and updating Retail pricing and profitability models (benchmark rates, FTP rates, assumptions, etc.) on a monthly basis; updating assumptions used in the Commercial pricing models on a periodic basis; maintaining a thorough understanding of existing models for all products (methodology, assumptions, calculations, data sources used, etc.); providing recommendations for any improvements to ensure model accuracy, participating in testing of new/enhanced models.
- Supports completion of reports/schedules for Taxation department and other Scotiabank stakeholders as required
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Relevant finance, accounting or business degree and solid base of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience
- Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills; attention to details; ability to analyze business results and identify issues and trends
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Working towards an accounting designation is an asset
- Good knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Power BI), FP&A Systems and analytical tools are an asset
- Strong knowledge of Auto Finance products, programs, policies and services is an asset
Work Arrangement:
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are not a common occurrence.
