The Senior Analyst contributes to the overall success of the central Compliance Monitoring team in Canada, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Regularly utilize Analytics and Insights for aggregated monitoring activities to analyze existing capabilities and identify patterns, themes, or trends in compliance controls that may indicate weaknesses or gaps.
- Assist in defining Business Requirements for monitoring reports, Power BI dashboards, and analytics solutions, with a focus on interpreting large datasets to deliver actionable insights.
- Support the development of processes to test the design and operational effectiveness of monitoring activities and conduct Quality Control (QC) activities related to testing.
- Support efforts to strengthen the monitoring program and Oversight Capabilities.
- Coordinate and support efforts across the Bank to document and update monitoring activities within the central inventory and ensure alignment with enterprise reporting requirements.
- Partner with Compliance Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Technology/Digital Experts, Data Specialists, and Process Engineers to help deliver the monitoring program.
- Provide support to monitoring teams in identifying and prioritizing tasks, clearing issues, and reviewing expected Monitoring program deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships, create a shared vision for transformation, and effectively communicate deliverables to all stakeholders.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:
- Professional with 2+ years of banking/financial services experience
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with advanced proficiency in Excel for large data analysis; experience with Power BI is an asset
- Experience in Compliance, Testing, Quality Control (QC), or Quality Assurance (QA) is preferred
- Driven and results-oriented with a proven track record of leading change in previous roles
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Quick learner able to contribute immediately to ongoing projects
- Deep passion for developing a leading, best-in-class Compliance function
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
